It really doesn't matter to me. I feel it could have gone to someone before me who really wanted it for Christmas. When you order it doesn't let you select send as a gift if someone wanted to do that. And they give you a link to print out a card for under the tree as if you wanted to waste a whole ink cartridge.

What does a girl have to do to get an "invite"? I feel like the only girl at the prom without a date, a LOSER! I actually just made out a check to Amazon for $361, so I do buy from them. Aren't they worried people won't buy them after going into holiday debt?

If it's any comfort I saw one online poll that showed that less than ten percent who requested an invite had gotten one. It's not like everyone but a few are getting them. Most if us seem to be on the outside looking in.

The funny thing is if and when I ever get one I'll probably get bored with it and wonder why I ever was so desperate for one!

That may well be the case (and I've received mine). However, I thought I had read that there were additional features that would be coming in the future. So, for $99, I thought it was worth a shot. Right now, I'm playing a lot of different Christmas music that I might not have done without the Echo. The sound quality is way better than I expected.

I check several times a day. One interesting note, when you search for Echo on Amazon now the search result window includes a note that the Echo will be "In stock on December 22, 2014." I'm not sure what that means, but with any luck they'll make Echo available to everyone then. There's nothing noted on the actual Amazon Echo page, but on the search results page it does say it'll be in stock on 12/22/2014, so we'll have to see what happens then.

Thanks for the info. I guess I didn't pay any attention since the "add to cart" wasn't there. LOL I depend on you for any added info. that I don't notice.

I mainly just do a search to see if the add to cart button is there. Then I search my email for the invite. Occasionally I go read the echo discussions. You can't tell if those people are telling the truth or bluffing though.

I just now went and looked and it does say "In stock on Dec. 22, 2014" instead of "get it by Dec. 22" like it usually does. Of course, the "get it by date" is only good if you are able to put it in your cart.

Thank you for posting that. I hope it isn't false hope!
