I live in NE Texas and started having drainage in my throat in mid-December.  My sinuses became inflamed.  So, I started doing a sinus/nasal flush with Neil Med Sinus Rinus Kit (from Walmart), Mucinex DM and Benadryl.  Mountain Cedar starts occuring from November thru March.  With the weather temps going up and down (also causes outdoor mold) like a rollercoaster, it's no wonder that a lot of people are sick.  My mucus toward the end was sticky and would definitely make me gag when coughing it up.  I'm much better but still sneeze some and occasionally have an itchy throat.

Re: Allergies In January

[ Edited ]

Why do you assume the allergen is "blooming?"

You can be allergic to anything!

I was allergic to the preservative in the nasal spray!

@Sapphiregal  I've had the same symptoms as you, for over a month too. Walmart sells a generic Musinex called Mucus Relief in a blue and white box for $.88 that has helped me. Hope you feel better soon.

I never had seasonal allergies until we moved north! I finally was tested. I was eligible for their allergy clinic. This entailed going to the clinic 3 nights a week. At the time I was driving kids around after school, so that wasn't an option.

The ENT doctor gave me Flonase. It didn't do much. Someone told me to take Zyrtec. I asked my FP about it, and he was fine with that. I get the Walmart version of it, and I take it every morning. It has helped a lot.

I still have symptoms, mostly in the morning, but I can live with them for now!

The new nasal spray called Clear X has helped me.

Someone posted about it on here and I tried it.  Have a tissue ready...it works!

Hope you find relief.  Allergies are so annoying!

I have found my tribe!

I have been dealing with my most recent bout since Thanksgiving. No cough but the nose and sinuses I can not handle anymore. It finally dawned on me after two months this seems like an allergy to me. Crazy in January! I haven't had real allergies in decades.

I have done decongestants, Benadryl, humidifier, neti pots aka waterboarding myself to flush out the sinuses, washing bedding, Spring cleaning and dusting, and nothing works well except the anithistamine, but it gives me a tired drug hangover. I have my first air purifier ever coming tomorrow to help see if that works.

I am actually leaving work and taking myself to go get some children's benadryl so I can function during the work hours today. I've never had to be on drugs for allergies but I am going through tissues like crazy. This really stinks!

Hope everyone feels better soon.  Heart

@Sapphiregal @Call the doctor's office back and ask for something else. Check the daily pollen counts for your area online.  You can also get allergy tested at an ear nose and throat doctor.
