Windows Security

[ Edited ]

I've always used Firefox but now have to use Edge.  Can anyone tell me what settings I should have on or off for security in my computer.  I read that Firefox is more secure but until I get a new computer I'll be using edge.  I like Firefox better since it's easier to use. I never lost folders on Firefox.

I don't understand why you're not using Firefox?  If you read it is more secure, what's the problem?

Buy a security package from a reliable company. Nothing is safer or secure on Windows.

Why can't you download Firefox and continue to use it?

On my computer I have google, firefox and edge.

You can just browse through the settings and set them to your preferences. Some are already set to what's recommended. There's brief explanations within the setting screen. Microsoft has more detailed explanations on their site.

Something happened to Firefox indicating a DLL was missing.  I took it in and had it looked at and couldn't find out why.  So now I'm using Edge and miss having my bookmarks and folders so handy. This computer is almost 6 years old so don't want to spend more money on it since it won't get Microsoft 11.  Had all my Firefox info put into Edge but access isn't as easy.  I did manage to get my bookmarks toolbar so that saves a lot of time.  I do like Edge showing my email when I go into hotmail.  A click is easier than always typing it.  Just don't spend as much time on the computer anymore and that's okay.

Why don't you download a new copy?

For some reason it won't open up.  It's in my programs but couldn't open it.  Had it to the shop and they tried and 3 looked at it and tried to get it to open.  Firefox is in my computer and I can go on the page but there is nothing on it except the firefox on the top.  All my info from Firefox was put into Edge.  The access to it isn't as easy but it's fine I can still use the computer to do what I have to do.  Looked for a new computer a few weeks ago but most don't have a 17" screen which I've always had.  I love this computer but in a few years it won't be protected.  I have thought about trying to take out Firefox and put it back in but I think I would lose all the information.  Better to leave it as is since it works well.

Why don't you export your Bookmarks, uninstall Firefox, download a new copy and install it.  Once it's installed, you can import you bookmarks and should be good to go.

I have thought about putting Firefox back in but if it doesn't work then I may have no computer to use.  If I found a new computer right now I would try Firefox removal and put back in.  Everything from Firefox is in Edge or in my computer.  Thing is the DLL, I think, is in the operating system but then I think why does Edge and Chrome work.  This all started when I tried to take out the MS office that was coming up in my emails and couldn't take it out so I went into programs and thought I took it out but it doesn't come out.  That's when I got the problem.  I do have my old computer with Vista and Firefox in it but the computer mouse won't work and one plugged in won't work either. Otherwise it worked fine before the mouse problem.  Not worth having that fixed. Was told I could take pictures from it and don't need a mouse but don't know if I believe it.  I'm self taught on the computer and my daughter and granddaughter have apple so they can't help.  I'm wondering if you use to go under another name with a 613 at the end.  613 has helped me fix problems in the past.  I did check out the page you sent which helps.
