Don't believe Best Buy when they promise delivery "the next day." I ordered a PlayStation Portal through them yesterday, and they promised delivery today. I got an email from Best Buy this morning saying it "may be delayed." Yeah, until Tuesday now. It's sitting at a UPS facility 20+ minutes from my front door and won't get here until Tuesday afternoon? Are they walking it here?

Best Buy will say it's not their fault, it's the carrier. Yeah, and who hired the carrier? Best Buy. Amazon or Walmart would have had it here today, but I decided to give Best Buy a try. What could go wrong? Yeah.

This is the kind of stuff that kills a company. Making a promise and not keeping it is stupid. If you promise next-day delivery, you'd better ensure it arrives the next day. Not four days later. Will I order from Best Buy again? Probably not.

It's dumb stuff like this that kills companies. When I worked in customer service, the number one message was, "Never lie to a customer. They'll forgive other things, but they'll never forgive us lying to them. Tell them the truth, even if it hurts." Best Buy lied to me. They promised I'd have it today, and now it's not coming until Tuesday. Why should I trust them with my business again? It's stupid stuff like this that drives a nail into the coffin of retailers. You can't lie to your customers and expect them to stay loyal to you. It's so stupid. You're a specialty retailer in a competitive marketplace. Don't lie to your customers, or they won't be your customers.

Okay, rant over.

Wow. No, not even the great Amazon always delivers on time. I have ordered many items that were promised in a day or two and it took longer. Rule of thumb, if you need an on specific date you must get it yourself and not rely on a delivery service.

Best Buy is a great company. Delays happen to all companies. I doubt they "lied." During holidays, in particular, flexibility is a virtue.

I bought a printer from Best Buy on a Saturday and it went on sale the next day for $120.00 off. No problem. Went in there and got the difference back on my card. I've never had a problem with them.

My goodness, I would say that Best Buy fulfilled their obligation. Best Buy does not have control over UPS. I have never had a problem with Best Buy. Things happen, delays because of weather, operations, etc. .

Ugh I've had that happen with UPS. The hub is really close and sometimes it's there and just didn't get put on the truck. Such a bummer. Same with Fedex but I don't have a lot come from them. I try not to get too annoyed because my UPS is great about not handing off to the post office so I usually win with them. I wouldn't blame Best Buy who held up their end and I always assume when a store says next day that it might me two. 99% of the time it works out. Unless they guaranteed the day, then I'd be a little annoyed. I just do see it as a guarantee when they say that. I just assume it means quick. Like it will at least head out the door that day.

@gardenman.  I'm finding that, although it's early, shipping is already a big mess.  Seems like I've been fighting it, having weird occurances, etc for a couple weeks.   Last night I discovered someone else's package on my porch so now I have to deal with that. (Amazon)

UPS in my area never delivers low priority packages (QVC, etc) on Mondays,  which is probably why yours is coming Tuesday.

UPS and Best Buy are still saying it's coming Tuesday, but supposedly a UPS subsidiary called Roadie now has it, and is on the way to deliver it. So, it may be here today? Who knows? I don't. I'll find out when I find out.

@gardenman - So it seems as though they're doing their very best to get it to you as promised.

Take a deep breath and try to relax.  It can be annoying to not get something when "promised", but it's not worth skyrocketing your blood pressure over.

(How about having a packaged "delivered" by the post office - me on Thursday - only to not find it in your mailbox?  Nope, it was in my neighbor's mailbox!  Thankfully, we have honest neighbors.)

Right off the bat, friends tell me the Portal is quite fun.

Best Buy is not the Besy Buy of old. We just had a recent experience that, as a life long customer, made me pause and re-examine the chain as it seems to be on its way to that of Circuit City.
