There have been a few reports on other computer forums about people with Windows 8 having their computer fan run loudly. Is it their pc or Windows 8?
It didn't say what brand of pc they had or how much power it had. I did see many suggesting to avoid cheap computers like some of the ones QVC tries to sell.
Certain brands have a high return rate (ASUS was one of the ones).
I would return it if within the 30 days or try to contact QVC or DELL for a resolution or suggestions....
I'm waiting for Windows 8.2 to come out sometime in August which addresses some of the problems customers have had and it will be going back to an easier start-up format like the oilder Windows version.

OMG, I can't wait!! A REAL START SCREEN??? Who in the world needs those goofy "tiles?" Just a stupid gimmick. I have my screen defaulted to the old Windows desktop with shortcuts. That is the only way to get things done. But still no start screen. And I hate the way one has to click all around the edges of the screen to get certain menus to pop up. How stupid is that?

I bought the March Dell TSV with the i9 processor, 8 mb memory, Win 8, and 1 TB hard drive that I have since upgraded to 8.1 (which I still dislike).
However my laptop runs cool as a cucumber, I hardly know it's on, no fan sound at all, no heat emanating from the chassis . . . in other words, physically, the computer is fantastic.
The pop-ups still happen inappropriately but that IS Win 8 and 8.1. However, overall, I am very happy with the Dell computer I bought. Just can't wait to get the OS bugs out of it.

That is NOT are part of the operating system. I have a Dell computer with Windows 8.1 Dell and the latest updates and no popups. If you have popups, you have malware.

Really? I'm not talking about Internet pop-ups (and believe it or not, as dumb as you think I am, I know the difference). I'm talking about the intrusive portions of the OSs themselves.

DH has a new HP laptop he got for Christmas. It has 8.1 on it & does not run hot. He says his older laptop ran hotter then this one. He has one of those lap cooling pads but it was still hot to sit on his lap to use while sitting in his recliner. Does not have that problem with the new one. There is a classic shell you can download for free on 8.1 that has Windows 7 start button. Check it out here. http://www.classicshell.net/
I would send back the laptop you bought & buy something else instead of dealing with the problems. Send it back as defective & let them pay the return shipping.

You have no idea how dumb I think you are since I've never shared that with you. As I said, I have a Windows 8.1 computer and no intrusive popups. It's not part of the operating system. If it was, everyone would have them.
