4G question - Kindle

I have been holding off and waiting a long time for a Kindle. Lots of choices and I love gadgets. I have a smartphone..... Samsung Galaxzy SII. It has 3G, 4G, and Wifi. One big problem, our area does not have 4G. We are outside "city" and in a rural area. I don't travel to 4G areas either.

I am torn which model to buy. Love to have the top of the line since Gadget seems to be my middle name but would it matter if I just go to the other versions? And which one.

Will 3G be eliminated and my Kindle be useless, down the road... I mean 3 years or so.
