continued issues with shipping & notifications

I placed two orders on January 4.  One item was a "Big Deal" and the other was from a host's Studio Park collection.  QVC sent separate emails stating both would arrive on Thursday, January 11.  I was concerned when neither arrived, so I logged into my account and found that the delivery date was changed to Tuesday, January 16, yet no one from QVC notified me about that change in delivery.

After I place orders, QVC sends confirmation emails with a delivery date. Most of the time the items don't arrive on those specified dates.  I don't understand why QVC can't communicate to the customer when an order has been delayed.   It's certainly an inconvenience, yet they claim the "C" in QVC is for convenience.

I placed another order from the QVC website.  The item was listed as in stock.  After a week, I wondered why it hadn't been delivered, so I logged into my account and found that it had been placed on backorder, but QVC didn't notify me about that until a few weeks later when I received a letter in the mail.  A couple of weeks after that, I logged into my account and found that QVC canceled this order.  QVC still hasn't notified me about that order cancellation even though it's been weeks.

Sometimes they blame shipping companies (UPS, U.S. Postal Service), but it's QVC who is sending me those delivery date emails and order confirmations.  I click on the order tracking links, but there is no updated tracking information.   If there's a change in the delivery date that QVC provides, or an order has been cancelled, QVC should notify customers.

@1tuffcookie.  Keep in mid that those are EDD dates, as in ESTIMATED delivery dates.  This time of year weather conditions at the source can slow delivery times and mess with shipping schedules.  I've noticed a slow down in mine too.

I still feel they should notify us if the "estimated" date is going to be changed several days later to the following week, and they should notify us if they are cancelling orders.  They cancelled an order that I placed on December 9, and they still haven't informed me about it.  The only way I know about it is that I logged into my account a few days ago.

This delivery issue has been going on since last summer, so it's not just recent weather conditions (which, by the way, haven't impacted any other company from making an on-time delivery to my home). It's just QVC.

If I were unhappy with the way a company does business, I would shop elsewhere.

I do think QVC should notify the customer if an order has been delayed or cancelled.  We get enough other emails from them!!  They should keep the customer informed as to the status of their order before it's even shipped.  Has nothing to do with the weather.

Re: continued issues with shipping & notifications

I get emails all the time when I have orders out saying what day they'll be delivered and rarely are they delivered the day they say. I got an email yesterday saying my order was delayed and would arrive by tomorrow; it was delivered on Friday! I have the same issue with orders from Amazon, which used to be spot on with their deliveries but, now that they're using USPS for many orders, I don't think they have much control. I don't order anything that I need by a certain date, too many variables. Even when I was the business manager and had to order office supplies for our agency, I didn't have "emergency needs" that I would order online. With our wintry weather, not sure how anyone can make promises. I just get excited whenever I open my front door and see a mystery box waiting for me!

@CalminHeart

Again, this has been happening for MONTHS.

Again, other companies have been able to make on-time deliveries these past few weeks.

I certainly hope that post made you feel better.  Please know your opinion does not matter to me at all.

QVC can control the emails sent to their customers.

If they're going to cancel an order, they should notify the customer that it's been cancelled.

If they're going to advertise an item for sale on their website, there's an expectation it's in stock.

If they're going to switch an order to backorder, they have an obligation to inform the customer in a timely manner.  It's ridiculous that they send 5-10 emails each day, yet can't bother to tell someone they've cancelled an order or moved it to backorder.

Other major companies can accurately provide an exact delivery date (even during the holidays, bad weather, and throughout summer/fall), but QVC can't (or won't).

I agree, and I have begun shopping elsewhere. That's how I know other major companies are capable of providing an accurate delivery date.

I receive several emails from QVC each day, so it seems that's they're preferred mode of communiation.  It surprises me they aren't sending emails about orders being cancelled or moved to backorder.

Re: continued issues with shipping & notifications

Order notification really does vary from one company to another. In my experience QVC is not the only company that does not notify you of delays.

Of course there are those times with QVC when I have been notified of a delay, or an item is still processing and I find the package on my doorstep.

Last week I did get a notification from one company that my order will be delayed because of weather, explaining that the order will be passing through points experiencing severe weather.

And I can't be the only who places orders with Amazon and then immediately has the delivery date change to two days later...followed by more emails about delays after delays...

So other retailers consistently have delays. Most do better than QVC with notifications. Some send zero notifications or delivery dates.

I don't understand going to backorder without a notification. I wonder if their reasoning to not notify would be in the hopes you don't cancel.
