What is the difference between “refund” and “merchandise credit”?

on the QVC Return form we can select "refund to original method of payment" or "refund by merchandise credit"

what is the difference between the 2 options.?

I appreciate QVC's excellent customer service.

Thank you.

@hari

Ok...let's say you paid for this item by MasterCard.

What the question is asking is "do you want this refund credited back to your Mastercard".

If you would prefer, you can check the other option meaning you would like the Q to hold onto this money in your account and then you can apply the amount to a future purchase.

The amount of both methods of credit will be the same.

Re: What is the difference between “refund” and “merchandise credit”?

Option1 you have paid with a visa for your purchases and desire your refund to be returned to your credit card. ***Select Refund to original method of payment***

Option 2 Refund by Merchandise Credit means that you will have a credit applied to your account. The next time that you make a purchase it will be deducted first from your merchandise credit. Lets say that it's a 50.00 credit and item that you wish to purchase is $50.00. Then it's a wash and you will not have to pay any additional money. Lets' say that the item you want is $55.00. Then the credit on file (Merchandise Credit) will be applied first towards the balance owed, and then you will need to then use a method of payment to pay for the balance of $5.00.

I hope this makes sense.
