Why is that I normally pay $3.00 in shipping on a standard item (regardless of purchase price), but get charged $6.95 to return that same item? Is there a re-stocking fee? Otherwise I do not understand charging me more than double. Funny thing is that I recently returned a blouse. Went to the P.O. and ended up paying only $3.50 first class vs the $6.95.

Did you pay to have it insured?

If you are using their label, that's why.  So you'll be out your $3.00 plus the return shipping, unless you pay to ship it yourself (which i always do because it's cheaper).

It is pricey to return.  Paying the original shipping cost plus the return label fee.  At least $6.95 or even higher.

You do get insurance.  Plus one time QVC never received a return and I did get the refund anyway.

However I wish it wasn't so expensive for returns!!

I figure it's not up to me to figure out the why.  I can't.  It seems to me if they really wanted the shipping to pay off as well as some think it does, they'd charge the big fee on the outgoing end.  After all, we all pay that one -  and that's the one with paper work included, that's the one with the bag or the box they pay for, etc.

I hate to do returns -  even if the charge is included (I just never believe it's free.)  but if I have to, I do my own label unless the weight or odd size tells me using their label won't add much or even be cheaper.

The vast majority of what I buy costs $3 or less for shipping -  and we've been paying the return shipping forever, so I refuse to waste my emotional energy over that $3.  If I can't afford that, I'm buying something I should have passed on to begin with.  Now THAT ticks me off - at myself!

Unfortunately returns cost around $10.00 or more.  I sometimes take my returns to the post office and always get the package insured.  Even a small/light cosmetic item costs almost as much as the QVC return label at $6.95 plus now we don't get our original shipping cost refunded.  I noticed a lot of items are shipping for $5.50 too.

Sometimes it is cheaper to use your own label, but not always.  In the past I have paid to return an item and wished I had use the label provided. But I never "insure" my returns and have never had a problem.

@Monamar - You are paying for the ease and convenience of using the Prepaid Return Label.  As far as I'm concerned, it was never designed to help customers save money.  Yes, you can often return clothing on your own for less but there are a number of other items that using the prepaid return label is quite a bargain.  Also, QVC's repaid return label fees are right in line with other companies that offer this service.
