Just wondering, I live in Maryland, so why does my package go from North Carolina, to New Jersey, and then back down to Maryland?

Hi @FredStan, that is a great question. I am sorry, I just don't know. UPS and the postal service may be able to help with that answer.

I asked my mailman once and he had no clue - just said - perhaps they (ups) are just trying to give us some business. ???? The more places our items get transferred to the bigger the chance of it getting lost - damaged - stolen. Nobody seems to know..............why?

I classify the answer to your question under, "I don't need to know everything". It's one of life's great mysteries, the answer to which is only known by UPS and the USPS. I bet it has to do with "hubs" and distribution centers.
