Is there a way to ensure you receive a new item (e.g. not previously worn)? And if you receive an obviously worn item, how do you get a total refund? I shouldn't pay shipping either direction if the item I received was not new. Any suggestions,?

I don't know if we can ever be sure an item hasn't at least been tried on and returned.

I think most of the time though we do receive "new" clothing or items in general.  That's why a good rule is to wash everything before wear or use.   Even the factories can be pretty dirty.

@Nonewnane    You're making a mountain out of a molehill.  I've received dozens of customer returns.  QVC repackages and sells them just like department stores do. I've never received one that wasn't in pristine, brand new condition.

Other posters love to jump in and tell exaggerated horror stories but, truthfully, these instances are few and far between.  As with any item, if it's defective in any way, all you do is note the defect and return it for a full refund.

You cannot assure you won't get a return.

@Nonewnane Just as @LindaSal and @Kachina624  says, there is no guarantee that what you purchase, ANYWHERE, is guarantee'd to never have been worn. Even department stores receive worn and returned items. I have known people, and I'm disappointed in them, that purchase items, leave the tags on but hidden, and return.

It doesn't bother me a bit since I wash every piece of clothing I purchase prior to wearing. Now, if an item is damaged from wearing QVC/HSN will give you a full refund.

A side note, you may receive an item that has been worn by one person then returned, I think it is extremely rare for you to receive an item that has been worn, returned, resent to another buyer, and again worn and returned. However, how many times do you suppose an apparel item has been tried on by multiple people in department stores? There's racks and racks of clothing that has been tried on that needs to be restocked.

I too have gotten stuff previously worn an you tell by the perfume smell or I have gotten several pants lately where the waste band has been streached out a lot.  I send it back as defective or ask for exchange and tell the why.

I just received a Stan Herman piece that I knew right away it was not new as it had no tissue paper.  When I held it up to look at it there were several long dark hairs at the neck opening.  The world won't end, but I don't like this.  It should have been priced "as is".

I ordered a Revlon Hair dryer from Target when it was on sale..Thinking I got a good bargain but when I received it the brush was full of long gray hair. I was so disgusted. I called Target and she issued a refund. I asked how could they send this item out. No answer.

Unfortunately @Nonewnane  you are not the only one this has happened to.  This is a frequent occurrence with qvc,  They just don't take the time needed to truly check returns. Or the company just doesn't care and hopes you will keep the item regardless and then gets to keep your money for something you did not order.

If you pay for a New item, that is exactly what you should get. Not a used/worn one.  The only thing I can suggest is contact CS.
