I ordered something and it got misdirected to another state by UPS. It then got directed to my state. It was scheduled to be delivered today.  But I received a notice from QVC saying it could not delivered today because the receiving business (post office?) was closed.  The Post Office is open on Saturday mornings.  It's now scheduled to be delivered on Nov. 12th.  Rather odd, that the post office would have been closed today.

OMGosh!!! That has happened to me a few times----not even sure what I ordered now--but it went from back east to the west coast to my town and then down to CA or OR before I got in here WA!!! and that is only after it went from my town to a town just a few miles away-----maddening---that little tour  took another week at least to finally get it-----was almost a full month in shipping---sheesh!!!

@songbird - Yes, that happened to me recently, but it was on a postal holiday (a Friday).

What was ridiculous was the UPS van went right past my house!  Why not just drop the package off?  Instead they transferred it to the post office on the "next business day", which was a Monday, because UPS doesn't deliver on Saturdays here.  Then the post office kept it for another day before delivering it.

Another time UPS transferred a package to the post office.  It was a perishable (2-day shipping) item!  Luckily, I called our local post office and was able to drive over and pick it up.  I didn't want my fresh, pineapple-coconut cake sitting overnight there, after having been in the UPS warehouse and van.

The post office manageress just shook her head at UPS doing that.

I've had packages take the scenic route.  I've also had packages make it to my local UPS or FedEx facility and then disappear, although eventually they get deliviered.  I'm talking weeks or even a month or 2 later.  I've never had a notice that a package could not be transferred to USPS because the facility was closed.  I have had it show up on my tacking that my package was waiting to be accepted by my USPS and it sits wherever that purgatory place is for a couple of days.

Monday is Veteran's Day so USPS won't be delivering mail.

Our Post Office is open half a day Sat.

UPS is not open on Sat except during the Christmas Holiday's.

Finally got my package!

Mine arrived yesterday, on the road a couple of weeks touring the country.  Maybe the disaster that wiped out so many roads was involved in the re-routing.
