Effective tonight at midnight so like 3 hours notice.
It sounds like even the hosts were caught off guard. Was there an emergency board meeting that mandated they close down the channel ? Stacey said she would be back on Q2 next Saturday. To be a fly on the wall in the QVC breakroom today .......

It stands to reason when a company has so many difficulties getting out orders with slow processing and refunds that take months to see, that more content exacerbates the issues.. Sad though for the hosts, who will probably lose their jobs or will have their hours cut.

@Matchup wrote:Why would we want to watch rebroadcasts of previous shows? I tune into qvc to shop & would not be interested in watching something that does not have accurate inventory.
@Matchup Because “we” have a life and don’t sit and watch 24/7 and now maybe can see a show that “we” missed on the main channel.
There will still be a Q2 big deal.

I am assuming QVC is bleeding money and is trying to get it under control. With all the shipping and return delays and stale product selections, customers are getting fed up and it will show with poor sales data.
Here is my opinion of what is going on. Stop live programming on Q2, that saves payroll for those who need to be live on set for production. Eventually just do away with it. They can't right now because of contracts with stations, etc.
I expect to see more hosts no longer employed when their contracts come up for renewal.
QVC needs to focus on their main channel, get that back to the old days where it was FRESH, UNIQUE and ENJOYABLE to shop. Hence they need to get back to their core value of QUALITY, VALUE AND CONVENIENCE.
I give them one year to get their business model back into order or else they will end up like SEARS, JCPENNY and all the others that will file bankruptcy.

@CoffeeNut I’m not sure I agree with your last statement. The rest is spot on. IMO.

So sad if we lose QVC and I pray you are wrong and it does not turn into a SEARS. I also worry for hosts like David Venable, Mary Beth Roe and Jayne Tracey who have devoted their lives to QVC. I feel the younger hosts will adapt but it is hard to change once one reaches their 50s. I also worry things may be dark behind the scenes and QVC's image of happy may be an illlusion.

I think them pulling back of Q2 is a mistake. I feel if they can have 2 hosts in one show like gourmet show then they can have one host for one channel and another host for Q2 channel. I would go to Q2 channel when main channel had something none of my interest. There was no need to cut back at all. Also there is no need to have 3-4 hours or gourmet food shows or susan graver shows. No offense to those who love those shows but I notice not much a variety of fashion, jewelry, electronics, etc lately and too much food shows and susan graver. I like lug and handbags and not so much of those shows lately. I don't watch Q3 because its all repeat so whywould I watch Q2 if it will be more of the same. Let's not forget they cut off 4-5 hours of airing late at night on main channel. They need to make the most of the main channel by airing more variety if not they will lose viewers even on the main channel.

@chessylady wrote:I know some people don't like HSN but I am seeing better prices and faster shipping than QVC. The Beekman merchandise is free shipping all the time. With the exception of Shannon, I don't see as much hard sell and much less silliness.
@chessylady I have to say I recently watched Colleen Lopez presenting the Beekman TSV. She mentioned how she used it personally, but didn't go meandering off into some completely boring monologue. And the calls aren't endless. I would definitely watch her again, depending on the product. And I'm looking forward to Jay King this weekend.

The veteran hosts need only look at Jill Bauer to see how to have a second career. She has her own blog posts, guest spots regarding lifestyle on the Today show and consulting with an established firm to do corporate coaching. She looks extremely happy.

For every Jill Bauer there is a Jackie Gonzalez or a Dave James who you never hear from again. If I was a QVC host I would be saving a large portion of my income fearing that the dreaded pink slip could come any day.
