Why is it that when they say that a price is example $15.79 they always say cent when it should be $15.79 cents. I was Taught in school if it is more then 1 then it is cents not cent people go back and learn English. Why do they do that? More then 1 in anything has an S at the end. Oh that is right they do not get ABCDEF anymore. Only Needs improvement, Satisfactory Blah, blah, blah.

you mean you've heard the hosts say this? I've never heard it put that way by any of the hosts.
. I have heard  some people on TV  say 5 foot rather than feet which bugs me. . Also cot'un and but'un which is also highly annoying.  Haven't heard anyone say cent yet.

Depends on whether the payment amount is used as a noun or adjective

I have heard the host say "and change" instead of the exact amount which bothers me....it like they are too lazy to do their job..along with saying "et cetera".

A current host on JTV has stated she refuses to say 99¢, and gives the price up to the next full dollar...

Speak any way that you want to with family and friends.  But when part of your job is to be a professional speaker, set that lingo aside and pronounce words correctly.
