Express Delivery

[ Edited ]

I have finally had it with UPS Mail Innovations.  After the last several months of poor delivery service, I decided to switch to Express Delivery.  I ordered 2 items on Mon. and UPS brought them to me today!  I ordered 2 Irish sweaters today and they are scheduled to be here by Friday!  Yes, it may cost more but now I know when my items will get here!

@Tuffcookie   Have you looked into the UPS program that by-passes the USPS?  For about $20/yr they direct deliver all your packages.  Compared to Express Delivery, it would be a real bargain.  Info on the UPS website.

Does that apply to Mail Innovations too, or just SurePost?

@geezerette  I'm not sure but would assume both.  I don't have it but posters are always raving about it, seeming quite pleased with the service.

I have the UPS upgrade service that cost's $20 per year and it does not include Mail Innovations - only Surepost..  I think  UPS may now have a more expensive upgrade option but I don't know what's included with that program.

UPS Mail Innovations is for packages under 1 lb  UPS delivers those to USPS.  USPS is usually the problem with late deliveries.

With USPS SurePost, packages are picked up by  UPS, as well, then sent to USPS, but they are for packages over 2 lbs.

For $19 a year, UPS offers UPS My Choice Premium. All SurePost packages normally sent to USPS are delivered directly by UPS cutting off a day or two delivery. Choice Premium does not cover USPS Mail Innovations, though; however, from my experience, most of my packages are sent SurePost.  Expect jewelry to be sent using Mail Innovations.

"The main difference between UPS Mail Innovations and UPS SurePost is their specialty in the types of packages they process. UPS Mail Innovations - best for smaller and lighter packages that weigh less than one pound. UPS SurePost - best for heavier packages within the 2-20 pound range. This boils down to the kind of supported package types used by both."

Thanks for adding details @Foxxee.  I already belong to My Choice but went to the website and couldn't find anything about My Choice Plus and couldn't remember the name.  I got motivated after the post office received 2 of my packages then sent them to Arizona (2 different locations) causing, so far, a 3 day delay and I haven't gotten them yet.

I'm sorry, it's My Choice Premium instead of Plus.  I'll correct that in my previous post.  Getting mixed up with Walmart + (Plus).

I have the My Choice Premium service and I am very happy with it. My Surepost packages are delivered promptly by UPS.  Regarding Mail Innovations, my packages travel to the regional mail hub where they sit for an indeterminate amount of time before being trucked to the local delivering post office. From there they are delivered promptly.
