I don't see any point in people using checks anymore.  Basically the currency is changing and it isn't a big deal to get a credit or debit card.  No problem at all.

Go talk to your bank and have them explain how it works and see if you need one, how to use it, what the liability is if stolen, etc.  It is a gigantic convenience and is the norm now.  I think a chat with the bank would do a lot to calm anyone's fears or doubts about the convenience.

Once I place my order that item should be on hold for me,

Now I'll have to wait weeks for a new supply or I may not get my item at all.

Another complaint -- for the past year, shipping is taking forever. Don't know what the problem is, but it's annoying.

@Diamond Gal  You are wrong. I had several orders go to backorder status over the past couple of months and I pay by CC.

I pay most of our bills by check. Husband pays a few other online. Just the way I like to do it. I had to pay some of my Dad’s bills on line and found it to take longer than using a check.

As far as credit cards, I can’t imagine not having one or more. Have had them forever. Don’t use a debit card though.

I don't understand people who don't want a CC, they miss out on all the benefits including cash back. I use a CC for all my purchases & paying all my bills except my mortgage. I get cash back on what I was going fo spend money on anyway so why not take advantage  of it & when I deposit the cash back into my checking account I get a 15% bonus too...I love free money.

Yes, we're all sick of shipping woes.

I write checks when I am at the grocery store.  My kids roll their eyes.  I don't want to have or use a debit card.  Kudos to the OP for not wanting to get into credit card debt, even if it is paid off every month, it is still credit.

OMG I dread getting in a check out line behind someone writing a check.

Me too!...and you can be sure that the person who is writing out the check takes their sweet time filling it out.  They write their names in a nice slow script....as if they were filling out a greeting card...people behind them just love it...not!

Thank goodness it's rare today as less people write out checks at the supermarket!

Just pay by credit card.... why go through all of that?  Most business do not even take checks anymore.

I wouldn't say most businesses don't take checks anymore.  I know there are some but I personally don't know of any.  And in fact there are some small boutique stores around me that will only take a check or cash because they don't want to incur the credit or debit card fee.

@Puppy Lips, that´s so funny. Stop embarrassing your kids lol

There´s only one place I pay by check and that´s for a storage unit, and it´s because they charge $3.99 to pay by debit or credit cards. I usually buy 6 checks from my bank for $4 and that´s for paying storage.

I use my Debit or Pay Pal Card, My Bank keeps track of all my transactions and let´s me know if something does not seem in place.

Years ago when i used Check at the supermarket, all I had to do was sign the check. The register filled in the check and the cashier showed me the check to make sure everything was correct. As far as I know it´s still done this way and it keeps the line moving.
