I purchased an item and paid $28.48 plus $5.50 S/H and $3.14 tax for a total of $37.12.

My checking account shows that they took $37.12  out on Aug 14 2023. I returned the item using their label. They refunded me $22.67. Since when does shipping cost $14.45 when I only paid $5.50 to get it shipped to me. This is highway robbery!!! I have been a customer for many years but NO more!! Good bye QVC!!!

From what I calculated they charged you 8.95 for the return shipping, you can't subtract the original shipping from your return, you never get that back unless the item is defective.  Usually the return shipping is 6.95, ,was this a heavy item?

The website says that between 5 and 10 pounds the return shipping cost is 8.95, which is what you were charged, your 14.95 amount is deceptive, you can't recoup the original shipping cost.

@racoon01 - It seems that you may need to review QVC's return policies. Based on the numbers you provided, it looks like you received an appropriate refund:

$37.12 TOTAL PURCHASE

—$5.50 original shipping (only refunded for defects/damage)

$31.62

—$8.95 return label fee (applies unless return is for defects/damage)

$22.67 TOTAL REFUND

QVC's initial shipping rates are typically much less than the actual costs to ship an item; just think about the fact that you can get a ladder or a stoneware baking set or a stool sent to you for just $5.50 versus what it would cost for you to ship those items to someone else. For return shipping, QVC uses a specialized returns system through a third party, so the cost is a bit higher—but in most cases, the fee is still less than what it really costs to ship the item, especially with other agents involved in the process.

I totally understand your frustration at the prices required for just "checking out" an item, but everything is documented throughout the process and there aren't any hidden fees.

This has been the policy for years, so it's nothing new.  Most, if not all, longtime customers are aware of this.

Unless the item is defective or you were sent the wrong item in error, you do not get back the original shipping ($5.50 in your case) and the return shipping is deducted from your return ($8.95 it seems).

You might not like it, but that's the policy and it's stated pretty clearly under the "Returns" info and also on the prepaid label it says that the return fee will be deducted.

Chalk it up to experience and adjust your future shopping to take account of this.

This is why you should be careful to only order if your sure, in the 9 years I have been ordering I have only had one return.

It costs you to check out an item at QVC.  Why shouldn't it cost you?  They can't make money footing the bill for people to just take a look.

@racoon01.  Their label clearly has the return shipping postage written right on it so unless you were asleep it should not come as a surprrise.  Of course you could also have paid for it yourself and not have used the label but you would've paid more

@racoon01  - You may want to just shop locally instead of online.

I think it is shocking when you realize how much they charge for shipping. @racoon01  You can read it when you order, but until you see that much smaller refund it doesn’t compute.

Shipping is part of their revenue. They don’t pass the savings on like other retailers do with free shipping and returns.
