ATTN. MODS: Help with a Homeworx item.

MODS: Need to find out if the glaze used on the Homeworx items is food quality. Henry Slatkin stated that the large figural candles (Tree, Santa, Bear, Snowman) could be used for storing cookies after the candle is gone. Can someone PLEASE find out if the glaze he uses on his items is food safe? If not, PLEASE tell him to NOT say that on air. You don't want people getting ill.....

Thanks so much and look forward to what you find out! : )

Hi @SahmIam

Thanks for your question! The description for the HomeWorx by Harry Slatkin Holiday Filled Figurals states that they are ceramic and can be reused for your favorite treats. I have sent a request to verify that the glaze is food safe.

@SahmIam   We have heard back from the Buyers regarding reusing after the candle has be finished. Below is the reply.

  • These items were NOT tested for food safety.
  • After candle is burned, and all wax/wicks are cleaned out thoroughly, I would say it’s probably safe to store food items in them, but this choice is at the discretion of the customer since we did not do any testing to verify.

@Susan-QVC  Thank you for the information. I would suggest you tell the Powers that Be it might be a good idea to stop saying you can store cookies, candy, "goodies" in this containers. Words such as "wasn't tested" "probably" and saying something on air that it is opens you up to a lawsuit if someone DOES, becomes ill and tests show the glaze wasn't food safe. Perhaps posting it LARGE LETTERS under each items description that "This item has NOT been tested as food safe" so the consumer is aware.

Just a thought.
