I like fireworks but I was always afraid of firecrackers, sparklers etc. The property I live on doesn't allow it but I can still hear it and see it! Some of them are pretty but dangerous and noisy! ![]()

My sister stabbed me ( on accident ...sure) with a sparkler and it melted my polyester shirt when I was a kid LOL ...hurt like heck

Yikes! nunya that is scary! I was terrified of sparklers everyone would be having fun but I would be in tears.

Forgot to add, my dogs were always terrified of the noise. They could hear them from far away. I would turn up the TV, make noise, nah they could still hear them. I feel so sorry for the animals around the the Fourth - and its not just that day, its days before and days after.

I hate all types of fireworks legal or not. I just don't understand the appeal. We are in close proximity to several fireworks displays and our last 2 dogs were uncontrollable and often tranquillizers were needed it was so bad. Just a waste of time and money as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, they are fun! They are loud and make noise and it's especially festive when a string of them go off--bang bang bang bang!
Of course you should be careful and not throw them at anyone or an animal, but if used safely, they are a blast! Literally! It wouldn't be the fouth of July without them.

The last 4th of July party I attended was a nightmare. Small children (3 and 5 yrs) allowed to handle bottle rockets, firecrackers stuffed in back pockets and lit, and other dangerous nonsense. I left after the 3 year old shot a rocket into the middle of the seated group and the parents just laughed. I wish all of it was outlawed except for professional shows. Most towns, large and small, can muster up some fireworks. People underestimate the danger, and beer fuels the shenanigans.

Theyare illegal here too and you would never know it...I think the police gave up trying to stop them. We found a burned out one on our garage roof. It was good that it didn't burn it down.
My 2 Maltese don't like them, but they don't get too worked up. They just stay attached to me during the noise. My brother's 2 Springer Spaniels actually used to get so bad that they would have diharea all over the house. He has to give them a 'happy pill' now. They still lay around and pant.

Fortunately they're illegal here too. And with the red flag warnings because of high risk of wildfires it would be extremely stupid to set them off.

We love watching fireworks. We used to set off a lot when our kids were young, now that it's just us we sit on our glider and watch the neighbors. Our minpin isn't fond of them, but he doesn't want to be in the house alone. Our dachshund loves to sit on the glide with us and watch.
