I don't mean fireworks. I can undestand that, but the firecrackers that terrifys dogs, and irritates people, are a mystery to me. I don't see what they can possibly mean to anyone..enlighten me please

I don't understand it either.  My dogs have always been scared of firecrackers.  I have a new dog now, and I hope she isn't scared of them.

Our poor Charley was terrified of fireworks..  what I don't understand is they're illegal here- you know how that goes- and why they shoot them off until 3 and 4 o'clock in the morning..  gosh when we were on such a serious drought and it was everywhere, NO FIREWOKS, well that was worthless.. we were so dry, like kindling..

I hate fireworks.    Not the professional ones, but private sales and use.

There was a good piece about their dangers on the "Today Show" this morning.

Too many ignorant people use them and hurt themselves and others, and damage property.   

I also hate how it frightens the poor animals.   We see how our indoor pets get upset, just imagine what it does to the outdoor wildlife, and even farm animals.

yep.  There isn't anything wrong with sparklers and little caps, but those bigger ones - I don't get it.  

I know a lot of men that don't like them either.

In NYC, at least when I lived there (Central Park West and 95 St), people threw these things off rooftops on July 4 and Jan 1, days I scheduled for 12 hours of reading Anthony Trollope or some other long novel.  The streets weren't esp. safe even in the day time and all bets were off after dark.

I don't like fireworks at all, except the real shows.  Once I came home from a 4th of July party, and there was an expended rocket stuck in my brand new shingle roof.  Yikes.

One would like to think that children eventually become adults but some never do. "cherry", you smacked it outta the park. Terrorize animals and annoy humans. We go through it every year here and many of our furry family head for the basement and we turn up the volume. Illegal here also but like many laws, seldom enforced. Ours started last week and will end, who knows? And during these times our ER's get busier and for what? Noise!

My little dogs used to hate them, my cats hate them, and I hate them.  They're illegal here, but apparently those who just have to set them off using any excuse just don't care who they disturb or how they affect others.

I LOVE sparklers...and the firework displays at Disney and the County Fair.

The ones set off on the street....NOT!
