what are you paying for eggs?

everytime i go to the store it seems eggs are higher! last year i was paying around $5 to $6 for a box of 5 dozen.

12 eggs in a carton were around .99 a dozen.

i noticed over the last few months, going to the store, they were always 20-30 cents higher.

before easter, there was one box of 5 dozen left @ $10.  today that same box is $13.99.  sigh. everything just keeps going up. i am in a semi rural area, where there is not a variety of stores, we have walmart or the corner store.

Lots of shortages. i paid almost $3 for a 3lb bag of yellow onions. lots of empty shelves. sigh.

Walmart : $3.00

Meijer: $1.29

Aldi: $.89

All over the board here in Central Michigan.

The prices are blamed on the Bird Flu.

I haven't really paid attention.  I buy and use a lot of eggs and it really does not matter because if you want them you need to pay for them!  Complaining about it or even talking about it is futile.

$2.75 at my store. There was a note taped to the case explaining the reason. We don't use a lot of eggs so I bought a dozen last week which will easily last until the end of April.

Re: what are you paying for eggs?

I only use eggs when I'm making squash casserole and that's once or twice a year so I don't know what the prices are now, but I can't even imagine buying a box of 5 dozen eggs!

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Ditto for us.  We only buy organic, free-range.  We like eggs, but we also want the chickens to be treated humanely.  Seen too many graphic instances of inhumane conditions explained away on the premise of keeping the cost down.

We should be willing to pay a fair price for food produced in as humanely a way as possible.
