Re: what are you doing for the 4th?

It is more just a regular day for us, which means no contact with others. Truth be told, I've never been a big fan of holidays in general and this one in particular. I hate fireworks, We'll have hamburgers, cole slaw, and ice cream for dinner.

Everybody enjoy and stay safe!

lI'm with you ... I actually hate to see this time of year ... It's oppressively hot ... loud fireworks from dumb neighbors ... the whole shebang!   Normally, we would get a hotel room in the Loop (downtown Chicago) to avoid all this, but not this year.

I think I'll try to entice my son to pick up some ribs from Carson's ... my treat for him and his wife, too ...  and try to disassociate from all the bad news on cable, by watching some movies I've recorded.

Gunfight at the O.K. Coral with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas is first on my watchlist today.

Same as yesterday, still missing my grandson and our two children who we have not seen since Christmas. Getting take out from Zorn's so at least no cooking. I am recovering from a very bad case of shingles and just happy that for the first time in weeks I am improved. It is still in my eye but I look like myself again, hoping for a rapid improvement.

Right now I'm enjoying my morning coffee.  I'm going to get my nails/pedi done in a little bit, then when I get home I'm going to make some chili for our Indpendence Day celebration chili dogs!!

Re: what are you doing for the 4th?

Coolest day this weekend, so hubs went to his fishing hole today. I'm keeping a 110 lb. Italian Mastiff dog calm. Spent morning with daughter, just chatting. Celebrated late Father's Day on Wednesday and grilled steak with son, grandsons, daughter & hubs so no feasts this weekend. Still keeping it family.

22 month old grandson waves at all flags. We even go on flag walks. I told him the flags were waving in the breeze so he's determined to wave hello and goodbye to all flags he sees. Makes me smile.

Gov Can't Make Up His Mind advises us to stay home over the 4th. No one seems to care or listen, but we took him seriously. We grilled out burgers, brats and hot dogs. I made homemade baked beans and macaroni and cheese. My elderly neighbor brought over a peach salad and Cheryl's cookies and we had a late lunch. We'll watch an old movie (Written On The Wind) and then catch the PBS special later. Have a Safe Day!

Re: what are you doing for the 4th?

i really enjoyed reading through and discovering what you are doing!

we had dd and sil bring over my grandbaby (23 months) and we had hot dogs, baked beans and potato salad.  it was really pretty good!  we took the baby on a couple of golf cart rides and she loved it!  momma bought her a pinwheel and she got such a kick out of watching it move.  and even though it was hotter than you know what and not even DARK yet (lol), i had picked up some sparklers, and grandma wanted to take the baby outside for a few minutes to have some sparkler fun!

they left early, and now grandma is enjoying r & r.

We grilled hamburgers and had corn on the cob for dinner.  My girls are getting us ice cream from a local creamery and DH got a year's free trial of Disney+ so we are watching Hamilton tonight.

This is my least favorite holiday. I never could stand the noise and my animals can't either. I am not patriotic especially now so I wouldn't go in for it all anyway. Not at all proud of this country.

Closing door and windows (which we never do), and playing New Agey peaceful music Extra LOUD and taking care of my dog.  I Hate the 4th of July. Nothing but a bunch of stupid inconsiderate people with another excuse to be stupid and inconsiderate.
