My Mother and I were talking about Wegman's the other day.  My Mom has been a Shop-Rite shopper for years....40 plus years!  But yesterday she said she's no longer going to Shop-Rite and will  be doing her food shopping at Wegman's.  I've been telling her for years how nice the stores are...their produce and meat departments.  I don't know why after all this time she's finally changed her mind, but I'm glad.

P.S.  I don't have a Wegman's near me, but if I did, I'd be shopping there.

I have a Wegmans, Fresh Market, Whole Foods,  Trader Joes, Kings and Stop & Shop and none of them compare to Shop Rite IMO for savings. Yes they all have some bargains  and I will run in for those if it is a good deal. But to do my "shopping" I am still loyal to Shop Rite.

I live in the Rochester NY area, so have been going to Wegmans my entire life.  My recent experiences tell me that Wegmans is slipping.

Less choices of brands, more emphasis on store brands and "family packs", staff less helpful, out of stock items, and prices going up. They seem to be going more toward convenience foods and less toward regular groceries.

We are shopping more and more at Walmart for grocery shopping.

We just got a Wegmans maybe 2 years ago - LOVE.  Their produce, meat & fish dept, cheese dept, etc. are all fantastic.  Customer service is always great.

I 'm surrounded by them, and while none of them are close enough to do my regular shopping, it is a treat to shop there. One of them is in a city with 2 colleges, and it is so big it is a workout to cover it, but totally worth it.

We don't have a Wegman's.  I hear so many wonderful things about them though.

We have Mariano's, Whole Foods, Jewel, and Trader Joe's.

I am loyal to Mariano's.  From what it sounds like, Wegman's is comparable to Mariano's.

Wegmans will be opening near me in about a year, so I can look forward to that.  Lots of supermarkets have closed in  my area lately:  Foodtown and Pathmark, also Fairway.

I can't bring myself to shop in King's or Whole Foods--they are just too expensive.  I mostly go to ShopRite but will run to Target or Trader Joe for a few quick items.

@Peaches McPheeNo Wegman's anywhere near my home, but I have shopped them my my occasional forays into their territory.  Maybe they're giving up in their home territory????

I know they have been pushing to move south and have already opened a number of stores in Maryland and Virginia and have plans to farther south in thier future.  I've been in several of the Maryland stores recently and did not notice anything less than I used to see, but obviously I'm not doing my regular shopping there.

Will they ever come To Florida where I am now?  I wonder - if so, in my neighborhood they would be competing with 7 Publix (literally within a mile radius of me), a Whole Foods,, a Trader Joe's, and several wonderful gourmet markets.  I can't imagine they'll be here any time soon.
