Not entirely true. UPS is cutting their Amazon deliveries by about 50%. While Amazon is UPS's largest customer, they're not the most profitable. UPS is hoping to boost their profits by reducing Amazon deliveries, but they're not curtailing them.

There is an article on MSN entitled "UPS Stock Plunges After Announcing Cut to Amazon Deliveries" which provides more details.

Since Amazon got their own truck fleet, UPS seldom delivers for them anyway, just for an occasional 3rd party vendor.

I prefer my Amazon and Sephora deliveries by USPS. We have one of those large rural mailboxes that hold 95% of everything we order.

That depends on where you are located.  Nearly all of my Amazon packages are delivered by UPS with a few through USPS and occasionally an Amazon driver (which is very unreliable).

I hope the UPS delivery cuts are centered primarily in metropolitian areas.

Re: ups & AMAZON

[ Edited ]

I have to DRIVE to get my mail.  I am in an area where the individual homes do not have mailboxes.  And Amazon sends a lot of products by the USPS.

I'm getting really tired of having to go out to get my deliveries, which arrive at a different hour than the mail.   I would prefer home deliveries.

There are no Amazon branded delivery trucks where I live.

My Amazon deliveries are primarily by USPS since what I usually buy are smaller items.  The few large things I've gotten have come via UPS, but that was some time ago so I can't speak about what would happen now.

Some of the places I order from have been changing carriers lately.  One that used to use UPS changed to FedEx and now uses DHL.  Most will hand off to the USPS for small packages.

We have Amazon trucks making deliveries every day in my neighborhood, there is a distribution center down the street from us, once in a while I will get an Amazon order delivered by US mail from third parties.

We don't always see who is making the actual delivery.  We get a notification after the delivery has been completed.  My guess is that it's an Amazon driver, though.

The question I have, is if UPS will continue to handle Amazon returns?  We always do our returns at a UPS Store.
