He who fails to try to de-flea the dog misses an opportunity to help elevate its stature.

I believe you bested Ben Franklin! (: Though de-fleaing in Colonial Days was a mighty challenge. /p>
I say put a flea collar on it...and call it a day. Or there is always a good dip.

Unfortunately, some have far worse problems than fleas.

I think if people spend lots of time around a certain group they act a lot like each other. We probably gravitate to people like us tho

Growing up, my mother always said --- birds of a feather. And she felt very strongly, that yes, you very definitely are judged by the company you keep. If you are running with a bad crowd, people are just naturally going to assume that you are the same. If bad things are happening and you are always with these people, you will be blamed, whether you did anything wrong or not. So, yes, I still feel that way. You could be perfectly innocent of everything and you could be the nicest person in the world, but if your associates and/or friends are not on the up and up, then, you could be in trouble or judged negatively, too.

There is no disputing the physical law of water seeking it's own level.

It is definitely not an either/or answer.
For example, if the majority of my friends are stellar citizens, well educated, law abiding, etc., but I do choose to hang on to my friend from high school who has had a hard life, does drugs, etc., that does not make me similar to her. It makes me loyal. I would hope that I am an example to her, but if I am not that is ok too.
All hyperthetical, of course.
Plus, if we hang out with only our "own kind", we miss a great opportunity to grow, to learn from others, and to be better people ourselves. We add depth to ourselves from people who are different.

The company I keep are my husband, family, and 2 close friends I know for 40 years. Id say Im in good company. And I don't judge people by the company they keep. I judge them by themselves and how they act.
