OK...I have been a member of a union for almost 23 years. I am a secretary for the school department but my dept was recently moved to a bldg outside a school (a community center). A union position got changed to non-union and the job has been posted. The woman who does the job currently will now have to apply for her job. She was waffling back and forth whether she wanted to leave the union, etc. etc. Now me....I'm anxious to leave and I'm also anxious to get back in a school atomsphere. I applied for the position. There are some people who are shocked "how could you apply for this position....**** already has it, it is HER job. I agree to an extent but I am trying to look at it from the position that a job has been posted and I would like to apply for it. I'm not looking at it as "her" position. If the roles were reversed, I wouldn't want others applying for "my" job either though. Chances are very good that she will get the job, but do you see anything wrong with others trying to get it??? beanie
