Our country has long overlooked the needs of the mentally ill...............they have long overlooked our young and their needs ...........IF we don't address these needs with programs, facilities and financial assistance I can assure you there is a group that is NOT overlooking these kids........but fear not, they will send them back home again...........................................raven

Re: they know what to exploit

I saw a report about her recently. She met a guy online and was planning to travel to the ME to marry him. Good grief, are people really that desperate to belong to something?

sadly...........YES...........and that's a shame that they do not have a sense of belonging to something..........but the bigger shame is why they don't..........because that falls squarely on our generations shoulders...................................................raven

Good points about needed services but we can't keep cutting revenue and expect to be able to expand support services.

Re: they know what to exploit

In every generation - back to caveman, we have loons. That girl and others who side with our enemies often times think they are being trendy, fashionable, etc. They think it's fun because they saw something in a movie or watched and played a video game. Yes, they are mentally ill and mentally immature - maybe even had sheltered and privileged lives.

Sure, if they go and join ISIS or whomever they will get sent home - in a casket.

She is a traitor.

It's too bad she only faces 5 years in prison.

Often times, teenagers, and early 20-somethings, want to "buck the man", thumb their nose at authority. I mean, in the 60's and 70's, the hippies did. That's what this young generation is doing. I don't agree with it. But, I think that's what's going through their fool heads.

I agree that our country has long overlooked the needs of the mentally ill. Many programs were reduced or have diminished.

But...I do not think this girl is mentally ill. I think she was looking for a thrill. That guy woo'd her telling her she was special and powerful.

I don't see evidence that she's mentally ill, either. She reminds me of the women that line up to marry serial killers, like Manson. And it's certainly not new, look at Bonnie of Bonnie & Clyde and other young women who took off with criminal types.
