Re: the arrival of Mr El and Mr Nino

Be safe out there - I lived  in San Diego for years and when it rained, people didn't know how to drive safely in it - there were always a ton of accidents.  You need the rain though - good luck and enjoy the rain!

Upon further investigation, for LA at least this would appear to be the usual, not exactly El Nino-inspired and not all that much in LA proper.

Re: the arrival of Mr El and Mr Nino

I normally keep my TV on a news channel and I will definitely be praying for everyone.  This weather has hit many so hard. I am certain one can never imagine what it is like until they have lived through it.  Stay safe!

The Bay Area is predicted to get several storms in a row all week.  Heavy rain, some flooding expected.

The day before yesterday, Mr. Kaj Goldberg predicted El Nino would begin on the 6th.  Maybe.  It will remain to be seen.  I've got my supplies ready but then I've always got them ready in case of a quake.  Some fire areas may have some mud slides but that will depend on the amount of rainfall and the intesity.  It may all just turn out to be sprinkles.

El Nino began some time ago.  We've already had several nice snowfalls and a blizzard from it.  Perhaps it has just not rolled your way.

Two of our weather people reported it was here in the Bay Area at least a couple of weeks ago.

I am in the Palm Springs area. Measurable rain is in our forecast for the next 5 or 6 days which I've never seen before!

The rains that CA has had in the past couple of months have not, to this point, been El Nino rains - determined per the weather people by the direction the storms come from. They are saying that the rain this week is combo - part ordinary winter storm mixed in with some El Nino-ish behavior. Our first taste, if it pans out.

No Cal and the Central Coast have always gotten more rain than So Cal.  Currently, So Cal will only get "real", solid, multi-inch rain directly from an El Nino at this point. So we're not expecting what No Cal is expecting.

I'd say good for you - we still have to have some rain that acutally feels like rain, not sprinkles.  It's been dry here.
