There are always going to be trends, but I think there's something for everyone nowadays. There are plenty of feminine items out there; not everything is the boyfriend style. You just have to shop around.

A woman can look feminine in jeans and t just as easily as she can in a dress and heels.....it's all in how you pull the look together.....personally I prefer a more casual look...I hate feeling/looking overdressed.

I also hate clunker shoes AKA platform shoes....never liked them back in the 70's when they were a rage....like them even less today.....

How anyone can walk in a shoe like this or claim they are comfortable is beyond me.

No one place is going to have every style, for everybody.

That's why there are different stores, both on-line and brick and mortar, so people can shop around and find what they like.

It's silly to expect one place to have every single style out there.

Was Yuban, then changed to Plaid Pants due to forum upgrade, and apparently, I'm back to being Yuban.

A nice old gentleman stopped me in the street yesterday to compliment me on how pretty my long floral summer skirt was.

He started off well, but then I realised he was somewhat intoxicated.

But it was still a compliment, and he meant it, bless him.

Only dress I wear are maxis in the summer and a little black dress for funerals. Rest of the time in pants. Maxis get cute, strappy wedges. Pants get strappy sandals.

Hmmm, perhaps it's more that many ON ViewPoints play the "not a crime" card when people offer explanations and suggestions that differ from what they are expecting?

edited by me.

Hahaha .... Yep, that, too!{#emotions_dlg.laugh}{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

i am wishing that we could see a little more of styles of clothes, shoes, watches that emphasize a gal's feminine aspects. surely there are shoes that are less cloddish and still comfortable to wear with a lovely skirt, dress. to my eye, the look of a flowing skirt is done in by some of these heavy looking offerings i see 99% of the time here. also, not everyone wants a big fat face watch with a big fat band - fine for sport, but too mannish for an evening out. how about, at least, narrower bands, more bracelet type offerings. the boyfriend look seems a bit dated by now. just some thoughts.....

You have to really look but QVC does offer a lot of very feminine clothing. Linea have a lot of beautiful selections and even Susan Graver offered a very feminine t with crochet trim. I wore it yesterday with a Linea skirt and was complimented by complete strangers.

As far as jewelry, Judith Ripka creates jewelry with a very feminine touch. However, it really doesn't mean that a woman has to dress in ruffles and overt feminine clothing in order to be "feminine." Feminine is more of a state of mind than it is about clothing, shoes or jewelry.

Think of a woman in a man's shirt..... I think of that as the ultimate in femininity. In addition a woman can wear sleek, simple form-fitting clothing and she does not really need any floral prints or ruffles to express her femininity. It's about being subtle and not needing to overtly be stereo-typical in what some constitute as being "feminine."

As far as shoes are concerned even QVC offers some "feminine" shoes. You need to look hard but they do sell them. And there is absolutely nothing "feminine" about having shoes that hurt. Nobody in discomfort is going to look their best.

Just my take on the word "feminine."Smile

Whoa! What a thread!

I guess it's how one wants interpret. I don't care for the offerings on shoes the Q makes so I shop elsewhere. I've always liked wearing heels as I've had the legs to go with them. As I've aged, I have bought lower heel heights. I don't care for the Mastodon, Troglodyte, shoes that the Q offers. I don't think they flatter any female. Just my opinion.

Bottom line is (IMO) that if you can't walk well in a pair of shoes then they're not feminine no matter how pretty they look on your shoe rack.

Just what is the point of posting something like this? Talk about Troglodyte!

Sad to say, bustles and petticoats will not return anytime soon....LOL Seriously, though. There are plenty of girly-girl fashions and feminine styles out there. You just have to look. I've seen more ruffles, lace, crochet and floral prints this year than I have in years. As for the "comfort shoes" that OP is complaining about. Well, the fact is QVC's core customer is the middle aged and older woman and it's a medical fact that women (not all, but most) lose the fat padding on the soles of our feet as we age. That's why so many women in our age group have foot problems. I'm grateful that QVC offers shoes for women like me. But once again, there are plenty of pointy toe, spindle heel shoes out there, you just have to look for them.

fascinating - but i believe i was pretty clear about making a comfortable shoe that was more flattering. i am older than middle aged = and i don't want spindle heel/pointy toe shoes. don't know where you got that from. ?? yes, as i said already, i know i can look elsewhere. just looking for more choice here. apparently that is a crime. lol.

Unfortunatly, everything on ViewPoints can be a crime. LOL I'm not into "girly", but I do like a comfy kitten heel for dressy occassions. They are few and far between. So true!

I saw nothing in the OP that merited such tone of scolding from "some".

Nowhere did she say she wanted spiked heels, dainty frills,etc. Evidently she pushed some hot button somewhere. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}
