Deb, you are more than welcome. and by the way, my husband did not have a "tan" from his radiation therapy. It was the throat that was so, so sore. How funny what your daughter said about the cornbread & milk. It was only after his throat got raw that he started eating that each & everyday I made cornbread= but like his radiation oncologist said, "If it works and he's eating then by all means." Please feel free to ask anything, we're all here for you!!!!!!

Glad you got some good sleep last night- that in itself is so good for you. Hugs my friend!!

Hi Peaches, I was kidding about the tan, I thought if I have to go threw this at least i will get tanned!!!! My throat has been sore for a year so I knew with that & the lump on my neck that just got bigger I was in trouble. So I called my daughter thats works for a oncology dr. & had to tell her I thought it was thyriod cancer & it was in my lyn. nodes. She was so mad at me for waiting & not telling her & did not know what to do. I told my DH on a Friday & he was so mad at me for not telling him, He said you have 15 min to call Lisa our daughter & tell her or I will & it was the hardest thing I have ever done. They got me in on Monday morning at 8am & we are 3hours away.. Well I wish it was the thyroid , But it was not.So from that day I think I have all the tests needle in the nodes almost passed out never again unless I am asleep. He call in less than 19 hours & said I am so sorry... you have what micheal Dougals had I did not care I was in shock & I think I still am..So much more to tell but not now. Just hoping the drs. will call tomm. & give me my treatment or tell me how long...I had it out with one DR & I will tell you all about it tomm. now it is funny but then it was not & we are good friends now. Weird how things happened. Thanks again for all your help & support & all the other ladies that have posted it means the world to me... I will let you know in the morning if things change. Thank you all again... Deb

deb, everything's alright now- I can tell your reactions and things were just like with us. I mean after the needle aspiration came back negative, well there sat this lump that wasn't going away- so finally, finally he went back and was sent to an ENT, where he took over and said let's get rid of that lump, everything's probably negative. So after the surgery, we got a CALL to come in to his office, which is on the other side of Atlanta- we're like 40 something miles away or more.. off we go, you could've knocked us over with a feather- I so know where you are coming from@! At least you're going to have a plan now, just give it time. Have they removed the lump ? Once things got to rolling for my husband, it didn't stop.. bet it will be just the same for you.. get that ball rolling, get your radiation plotted out & all, and we're going to have you beat this!! Like I told my husband's oncologist, cancer just suxs huh? He laughed.. because it does!!!!!!!

You hang in there, GF!!! One day at a time, one tear at a time, one argument at a time, one everything at a time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peach, They have not removed the lump, Its in my lynp. nodes& they had to find the primary place it was coming from, So did the pet scan , DR say it was in my throat.& The ent. did surg. he thinks he found a tumor on my toncile from when I had them out when I was 16 & it just kept growing thats what he thinks where it started. So he will start with the rad. He thinks chemo & if all else fails they have to remove my lyn. nodes & he said lets not go there now. Thats why I am so I am so freaked out. But I will take it 1 day at a time. Thankyou GF you are the best.. It means so much to me. I will TTYT , Deb

Deb, oh I can see where you'd freak out- that's only normal! One step at a time- we are going to pray, pray, pray, pray for this to be taken care of via radiation therapy!! I can speak from experience that the power of prayer works- like I told our former Pastor when he called- we are going to prevail & don't have time for this disease, that our heavenly Father will take care of us!! He asked if he could use that in his sermon- by all means, Pastor!

After my husband was diagnosed, they did a panendoscopy on him and surgical samples to find primary- primary wasn't found so he had to be radiated on the areas that would cause this form of cancer. You'll like this, he went for one of his treatments and the tech told him there was something wrong with the machine, could he look at it... LOL it was one of the machines he'd installed & yes ma'am he fixed it. LOL We all got a good laugh out of that.. laughter is the best medicine ever- laugh through tears, whatever but laugh!!!

**panendoscopy (pan-en-dos'ko-pe),

Examination, usually with the patient under general anesthesia, of the
pharynx, larynx, upper trachea, and esophagus with rigid and flexible endoscopes.*
To be honest I was more freaked out than my husband! He didn't need chemo- that's another story.. LOL

Diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago and had surgery, 6 months chemo and 37 radiation treatments and now taking Arimidex for 5-7 years. Others are right - visit the Wellness forum - there are others undergoing treatment for different cancers. I posted on the original thread until it disbanded (and then my father fell ill so I have not been back) - just know it helps when you can commiserate with others who are going thru the same thing.

And I'm with lulu2 above - radiation is very very fast. I always said it took longer for me to undress and get into a gown and enter the radiation room than the actual time being radiated cuz the majority of the time once in the room was the techs making sure to align to your particular coordinates to direct the beam. And once they began radiation I was in and out in no time. Good luck.

Deb..I had BC in 2004. I went thru chemo(yes..lost my hair)and radiation. I had 38 radiation treatments and I did them on my lunch hour. They are just about 5 minutes. Takes longer to undress than have the treatment. Towards the end,I started getting a little tired, but not enough to miss work. You will be amazed as to how easy it is! Best wishes! The radiation doesn't cause hair loss. It is one of the chemotherapy agents that causes that.

deb, since they couldn't find primary he was treated from just below the jaw to mid chest & no he didn't lose any hair- he was already losing hair naturally!

How is it they found yours on a tonsil if your tonsils have been removed, you mean the area in where the tonsil was? See I confuse easily.. hahaha Hoping all your OBGYN tests go well and your reports are good. I had a bilateral oophorectomy several years ago as they were suspect about the cyst on an, which had grown into baseball size, might be cancer- there's a family history so there was an oncologist there & they did an immediate frozen section & it was negative.

It's easier said than done to not think about it, that's on human, and what you're going through is very stressful and hard to fathom. Hope you're having a good day and still sleeping!

Peaches, LOL Sleeping???? I was at Fl hospital at 7am to have the mammo.& ultra sound. Won't know for a few days how they are. When I had my toncils out he left some of it behind & over the last 45 years it turn into cancer, & when the ENT Dr. put the scope down my throat in the office he could see it. He was right on he said I bet thats where it is coming from.. Then I had the panendoscope done & it came back positive. I just wish it would all start soon cuz all I think out this must just be growing every day!!!!I have an app. May 30th will the oncologist & obgyn, So hoping they will tell me what there plan is & start soon.. Thanks again for all your words, Boy do they really help me. Have a great day.. Deb
