I've gone through radiation.......if you tan easily, it'll be a cake walk, but if you burn easily.....don't be surprised if they suspend you treatment for a bit.......if you start to burn, they give you some gel patches to wear over the spots that will keep you comfortable.........don't be afraid, it's no biggie.........consider the alternative {#emotions_dlg.crying}...........best of luck to you and keep positive thoughts, the mind is a wonderful healer...............raven

I had radiation after my lumpectomy due to breast cancer 4 & 1/2 years ago. It was easy, the worst part was going there every morning for weeks. The staff was outstanding and made me feel relaxed. They played my favorite music while I was alone in the room getting the radiation. I had zero pain. I was told I could "burn" and I am a fair skinned redhead, but I never burned at all. I wish you the very best and I hope and pray it works and you will be back to good health again soon.

When I got my radiation therapy 41/2 years ago I was in a clinical trial of increased radiation dosage over a shorter period of time. The radiology department provided me with calendula lotion to put on several times a day to soothe the area. I never blistered or burned but do have a "tanning effect". Radiation effects are cumulative so you won't feel anything right away but after a couple of weeks and after my therapy I felt very fatigued for awhile. Just give into it. Hi deb, Mark got back to my husband and said to tell you that both of the facilities you mentioned are great facilities. This coming out the mouth of a professional & one that services radiation therapy equipment. Hope you're having a good day & got some needed sleep last night..

Hugs my friend!!

HiPeach, I can not thank you enough!! I really appreciate all you have done. I felt so much better finally talking about this to everyone on this board. & I really did sleep last night . I am hoping the dr.will call in the morning & tell me there plan for me. My daughter works for one of my Drs. & told her about the cornbread & milk & she said, Mom you hate both,But I love them & you might learn to like it too. Maybe you never know... Thanks so much for all your kindness.Deb

Our son-in-law is on his last week of radiation for naseopharengeal cancer,he is also recieving Chemo,he has 3 more of those to go,3 weeks apart. His first treament was GammaKnife.

He has had a hard time swallowing and has lost so much weight that 2 weeks ago had a feeding tube put in.

It is 100 miles round trip for his daily treatments so that has been hard too. Most days he drives himself,if he is not up to it the family takes turns running him in.

I am sure every cancer type is as different as there people. This what he is going thru right now.I had never even heard of his type of cancer before now.

OMG I do not know what to say..How is he doing it ? I will pray for him!!! I can't lose any weight I was about 100, now I am 92. But I am small so I don't think I look sick. But when people look at me I feel they are thinking she has cancer. But I think I am just thinking to much about it. Deb

Deb, you are more than welcome. and by the way, my husband did not have a "tan" from his radiation therapy. It was the throat that was so, so sore. How funny what your daughter said about the cornbread & milk. It was only after his throat got raw that he started eating that each & everyday I made cornbread= but like his radiation oncologist said, "If it works and he's eating then by all means." Please feel free to ask anything, we're all here for you!!!!!!

Glad you got some good sleep last night- that in itself is so good for you. Hugs my friend!!
