"USPS Ready for Pickup"...??

What exactly does that mean?? My Informed Delivery info is showing that on a package I have coming but does it mean I have to go and get it? Does that mean it's not going to be delivered to my house now?  Help!

@SilleeMee It usually means that the label has been printed and that USPS will pick it from vendor to ship.

But the info says my package is available for pickup at the PO. Are they not going to deliver it to me? There was no notice in my mailbox about a package waiting for me to pick up either. I've never had this happen before. The PO has always delivered my stuff. The package isn't at my regular PO either. It's at the main distribution center far away from me.

I think this means another vendor will be delivering your parcel.  Something like a reverse of the USPS delivering it the final way after UPS hands it off to them.  Could be?

Re: "USPS Ready for Pickup"...??

This is what it says under my QVC order status dated for today:

"The post office attempted to deliver your UPS SurePost package and left a delivery notice with instructions."

That's a lie! They did no such thing. I've been here all morning and no postal person has been to my house today let alone leave a "notice" in my box.

@SilleeMee, the USPS has made a bunch of changes that went into effect I believe, on 10/1, none of which sounded like they were going to be beneficial to the customer. I wouldn't have a clue what that notice actually means.

@SilleeMee I had that same notice and the package was delivered by the post office the next few days.  I thought it was strange when I got that message. In fact, I saw the mailman deliver the mail that day.

Re: "USPS Ready for Pickup"...??

I think I'll give it a few days and see what happens next. PO is suppose to hold packages for 15 days so I've got some time to wait and see if my package gets delivered. I just think it's odd that my package is not located at my regular PO but at another office which is a main distribution center....not sure they even have a pickup place there.Woman Frustrated

That's what I would do also. You should not have to drive to another town to pick up your package, that's what they are getting paid to do.

Re: "USPS Ready for Pickup"...??

@SilleeMee I think waiting a few days is a good idea to see if it is delivered.  Wonder if the usps delivered to wrong address the first time.  I find that all PO offices in SC have pick up delivery.  Or you can call the post office directly and see what is going on.  I do that sometimes and they have always been helpful.
