The point is- we previously were able to cancel ANYTIME during the 'in process' stage of our order. Now that's changed and we don't find out until we attempt it. I think Q needs to modify their verbage during the stages of the order process. I even get the link to 'cancel' and then am unable to!!!

This is not about whether we take responsibility  or not... [rolling eyes emoticon]

That is absolutely not true.  I've been turned down for a cancellation because of processing years ago.  If you've always been able to it's because you were in before the point of no return.  I have no idea what that is but I'm pretty sure it's after it's been bagged and tagged and on it's way somewhere, sometimes it stays at the drop off destination as well.  NC is where I see my stuff sit.

KT Toby says:

"Very few companies allow you to cancel the order once it is placed."

WRONG. Most companies allow a reasonable cancellation period (at least an hour), even if you need to call them to achieve it. They also don't tell you it is canceled for sure, and then turn around and ship it to you.

"In many cases with QVC, if the order is being shipped from thei supplier (i.e. drop shipped), the orders are transmitted to the vendor once the customer places the order. This is an automated process that cannot be cancelled."

But in many cases, there is no good reason why not. I ordered a product on a weekend in the evening. I attempted to cancel *within 10 minutes* because the item was not fully described on air, and once I had a better description from the vendor. Whether the order was automated or not, there is no reason an automated cancellation can't go through as quickly and easily as an order, especially when the warehouse isn't actually going to be *staffed* for another 36 hours, so clearly nothing is being either packed or shipped on the same day.

Many things are now automated.  I do not know why so many people seem to think there is an army of peole waiting around to see if customers are truly serious about the order before packing it and shipping it.

Oh I am sure she has at some point but she take responsibility for shipping it back on her dime, not the company's or, frankly, everyone eles's since we all eventually pay for people who do things like this.

Re: "Sorry Your Order Is in the Process of Shipping and therefore...."

I have had this issue before.  Sometimes if you try and cancel right away, it will say "In Process."  Try again several hours later.  I can usually cancel after hours have passed, and also into the next day. For me the "instant" in process comes when an order/item is coming from another warehouse that is not QVC's, but the vendors warehouse.  HTH a little.  It is frustrating.

Tell me about it. I cancelled  a food item immediately after I orederd it and every day there after, it continued in the process for 2 weeks and then it finally shipped. needless to say the item was horrible and I asked for a refund!!!That is blatently money hungry!!!!

QVC are you in acient times??? do you not know there is a thing called email ?????

Q allows the cancel function so 'for crying out loud', customers should be able to use it. If they want to do away with it, so be it, but until then, customers do have a right to cancel an order with the company, if done before 'actual' shipping occurs, not this game they are playing now.

I have had the same thing happen as the OP stated. If the company is listing it as being too late in the shipping process to cancel, then they really need to be getting the darn thing out, not letting it sit another several days.

I do know that this usually happens this time of year. They gear up for the holiday season very early, and their shipping times pop much quicker between now and the end of the year.

Also, when being shipped directly from the vendor, many of those companies ship pretty quickly, and you don't have time to make a change.

I received 4 items this week, that I had canceled within an hour of ordering, received both a cancelled status in my order status, and an email confirming cancellation. Yet a couple of days later they shipped. Q sent me letters apologizing, and saying to send the items back on their dime.

Even their own system can't keep up with them lately LOL.

Why are you speaking for KYToby?

I also don't understand the rest of your post. The topic is cancellations shortly after ordering, not refunds.

We all "take responsibility for shipping it back on our dime, not the company's", unless the item is defective.

Please explain to me what the last part of that sentence means, "or frankly everyone else, since we all eventually pay for people who do thing like this".

We all pay when someone cancels an order??

Color me confused by your post.

Re: "Sorry Your Order Is in the Process of Shipping and therefore...."

I have found if you try and cancel an item via the computer, it won't allow you.  However, if you call customer service you, most often, can cancel an item within a reasonable amount of time before it "actually" ships.

We all, from time to time, need to cancel an item. No big deal. The problem I see is that many people will order items, sometimes multiples of the same item, and then decide to cancel for various reasons.  By doing this,  other shoppers, who also want that item, can't get it because it's already spoken for.  This happens quite often on items that are popular and/or sell out quickly.

The question we need to ask ourselves is:  How often do we cancel items after ordering?  If it's fairly often, then it's abusing the process and unfair to others.  If it's an occassional cancellation, it's normal.

Nice!

Did I say I cancel everything I order?  No.

Being able to cancel an order is THE REASON QVC GIVES US THIS OPTION.

Why? Because it's far better to cancel PROR to shipping than having them ship the item and have the customer use/wear it and then send it back!

Before  you decide to take out whatever frustration is going on in your life on someone posting an innocuous thread, perhaps YOU should take the responsibility and think through your reply first... before you post it.   Your irritation over this is really over the top ....
