"Ring of Fire" Annular Solar Eclipse October 14

We are in the direct path so this will be awesome.

This is the ring of fire eclipse.

"During an annular solar eclipse, the moon partially blocks sunlight from reaching the earth. It occurs when the distance between the moon and the earth is large. Since this distance is large, the moon looks small and therefore does not cover the sun entirely. As a result, the moon appears like a small dark disk on top of a large sun-colored disk. Such creates something that looks like a ring around the moon. People often call this the ring of fire."

NASA will live stream the event.

There will be a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 and again we will be in the path.

It will not be visible in the southeast or the west coast. In the US it starts out in Texas and moves up through the mid west and onto the northeastern states ending in Maine.

@50Mickey Hi that will be the path in 2024 and will start in the South Pacific Ocean moving across Mexico, Texas, and up the East. This will be a total eclipse.

The one today started in Oregon.

We are in both paths.🙂

I'd bought eclipse glasses from one of the reliable/recommended vendors and they were excellent! I wanted to capture a pic with my iPhone but read that a direct shot could fry the optics in the camera.
