"Grandpa" I just read this thread and think the criticism you took for voicing your opinion was, in some cases, just rude. I've had enough of the coverage myself. You showed some class with your response to hckynut. I think you're a compassionate person who raised a wonderful son.

It's a shame that the OP doesn't have any other channels to choose from. How sad.

I do have other channels, just miss my regular programs plus I am tired of the re-runs.....

Enough already, I am sooooooo sick of the Olympics! I'm probably the only person who feels this way. Just be over with already.....

Doubt you are the only one, but I would say the same to anyone else that starts a thread like this just to get response. Start a thread for attention and then never respond to any of the replies, right?

Your handle says it all gramps! Would think someone that goes with a handle that gives the impression they are old? Guess not old enough to know how lucky you are to live in a country such as ours. If a person chooses there are plenty of outlets one can listen/watch/surf that have nothing about the Olympics.

Ever thought of avoiding these outlets and are causing you to be so ill?

hckynut, you said, " Start a thread for attention and then never respond to any of the replies" since I have tried to respond to almost all of them and YOU have never been back here after your reply if would seem you are the one more guilty to not "respond to any of my replies, right? "

wow, I don't even know what to say......I have been gone all day so that is why I have not been back to respond to the replies....I do not have a fancy cell phone, just one that makes & receives calls, no computer on mine........ I have always enjoy all YOUR medical information and tech support.

First off I am 68, and a female, I use grandpa because my grandchildren make me smile when they say grandpa use to do this or that! This must be a bad day for you, are you in pain today? Sorry if you are.

I just wish the Olympics were on the sports channels instead, we have many, many sports channels to choose from....

I also see that some people do agree with me......

Sorry I voiced my opinion and you certainly did not like it..... seems you just think I am old and ill, but you have never met me....

I based what I bolded and underlined as quoting what you said about being "sick" of the Winter Games. Used the work "ill" as a synonym for "sick" which apparently was not a good idea on my part.

Many of my replies, as you've said you have read some of them, I use the "nic" as an indication of someone maybe identifying themselves and have commented tons of times on the "nics" when I use them or quote them in my responses.

Nope, I certainly have never met you and it appears from what you said in this response, that you are not "old and ill". I will certainly try to remember to quote exact words and not interchange the with what I see as a synonym in future replies. Can't make any guarantees because I am "old" and have been, and from what my docs say I guess am still "ill" even though much of the time I do not feel either old or ill.

Certainly are many here that will agree with you and have made it no secret how they feel about me and what I have to say about many things, maybe this being one of them. Since I have not read beyond your 1st reply(this one), may come across some of them. I have not replied to any others that agree or disagree with what I said in my first reply to your thread. I however might look and see if you have other replies to me where I can offer a comment on what I said and why.

Moving on now

this 68 old person, who someone thinks is ill, is now saying good night.....

one more thing to hckynut, too bad you seem to not like me, I rescue feral cats/kittens and find homes for them and try to get them to the vet to be spayed/neutered.. but many kitties have loved me over my lifetime...if this effort makes me ill, than so be it...

Also, hckynut, my son has been to Iraq, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Georgia, (the country) so yes, I know I am lucky to live in this country. I just pray my son stays alive defending it for us all, including you.

Want to touch on your saying "too bad you seem to not like me". I have many very good friends with which we have many disagreements, but it has absolutely nothing to do with our likes or dislikes of each other. Because we have different opinions on certain things, to me has no bearing on how I feel about others.

Not much question with what you've said above that I would like you. I've said it here, and other forums, I have met few if any animals lovers that go to the extent you mention above, that I do not like. To me people that care so much for stray and/or lost animals are kind/likeable and caring also to human beings. Those that have a devotion to helping lost/injured and maybe homeless animals are people with which I share these same qualities.

As with every person that serves our Country's Armed Forces in any capacity I respectfully offer a big thank you to every single one of them. Those that risk their lives serving our country should be individuals that every citizen of this country should respect and thank. Again, I am not singling out only those up front on the battle field as those not on the "front" are just as important to our the freedoms we enjoy in our country.

When I quit high school I joined the US Army Reserves. My commitment to our country was for 6 years and I did serve and get an Honorable Discharge from the US Army Commander of that branch at that time. Also received my high school equivalency diploma during my time in the service.

I will make sure to keep your son in my thoughts that he stay safe and come back home to you as healthy physically and emotionally as when he left. Thank you to your son and all that have chosen to serve our country and risk the ultimate sacrifice protecting the rights we take from granted almost every single day.

It does dominate the NBC channel but it also is only two weeks every 2 years so it isn't too long in my opinion. The channels now interrupt regular programming during the Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays every year as well so its just part of the deal with regular channels. That's why I'm glad I have several other channels and a recording device so I can watch other things when a programming schedule is interrupted for special events. Its difficult if one doesn't have anything other than regular channels to chose from for sure. Grandpa, only 3 more days, then it won't happen for two more years!
