Can't someone say how they feel and not be told that they are old and not grateful to live in America???

Apparently not.

The Olympics are not worth watching any more. just a commercial venture anymore. Billions spent on facilities that sit unused after the games while taxpayers foot the bill. Athletes now paid to compete. Athletes switching citizenship to another country so they can earn more by competing for their new country.

It's a shame that the OP doesn't have any other channels to choose from. How sad.

I do not watch the Olympics (except for the figure skating, which I can never seem to catch it while it's on, they deliberately don't show a schedule).

However, the Olympics on NBC causes almost all of the other channels to change their schedules to reruns and insignificant programming, and that does irritate me.

Ford, the ladies figure skating is on right now on NBCSN, but it is almost over and that is the end of figure skating. Not sure why you would say they deliberately don't show a schedule, the schedule for all events has been mentioned over and over since the Olympics started, not to mention the numerous threads discussing the events. There have been so many just for figure skating alone, I fail to see how you could miss it. *shrugs*

I agree that the Olympics have become so expensive that it's almost prohibitive for any country to host.

But with all of the controversy, I still enjoy watching. I am amazed by this caliber of athlete

When I was little, I was in Innsbruck for the 1976 Olympics, visiting my cousins. I guess I got the Olympic bug from them at that time and I never lost it.

Yes Ford, they have the schedule out there for everyone.....check it out on NBCOlympics. It gives you the channels where they are showing it, the sports that will be involved in that time slot, and more......

Enough already, I am sooooooo sick of the Olympics! I'm probably the only person who feels this way. Just be over with already.....

Doubt you are the only one, but I would say the same to anyone else that starts a thread like this just to get response. Start a thread for attention and then never respond to any of the replies, right?

Your handle says it all gramps! Would think someone that goes with a handle that gives the impression they are old? Guess not old enough to know how lucky you are to live in a country such as ours. If a person chooses there are plenty of outlets one can listen/watch/surf that have nothing about the Olympics.

Ever thought of avoiding these outlets and are causing you to be so ill?

wow, I don't even know what to say......I have been gone all day so that is why I have not been back to respond to the replies....I do not have a fancy cell phone, just one that makes & receives calls, no computer on mine........ I have always enjoy all YOUR medical information and tech support.

First off I am 68, and a female, I use grandpa because my grandchildren make me smile when they say grandpa use to do this or that! This must be a bad day for you, are you in pain today? Sorry if you are.

I just wish the Olympics were on the sports channels instead, we have many, many sports channels to choose from....

I also see that some people do agree with me......

Sorry I voiced my opinion and you certainly did not like it..... seems you just think I am old and ill, but you have never met me....

Bear in mind that not everyone get the sports channels. When anyone voices an opinion on a public board, you run the risk of people disagreeing. I'm 66 and *I* know that.

No, you have plenty of company. I cannot wait for it to be over. I'm just not fan of of winter sports. Sorry, Curling and Luge and Hockey are of no interest to me whatsoever. And I won't fake it. I enjoyed the ice dancing and I enjoyed the figure skating but I've had my fill. Bring on the closing ceremony!

I agree with you also, I like the figure skating and ice dancing. I have had my fill too!
