This makes my heart hurt. I loved his character Gomer. Loved all the characters on Andy Griffith, but he was a favorite. He did have a beautiful voice.
So sad to read this about him. I remember as a child watching him on Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle. One of my favorite Andy Griffith episodes is when Gomer, Barney and Andy visit a haunted house. He had such a beautiful voice.
it seems he was very popular and well loved by the NASCAR crowd also.
