is this normal or is the dog grieving or what ?

A relative passed away the end of December and the dog was found in te room with the person who had passed probably 4 days earlier. We brought the dog home with us and hes been so happy seems to love having another dog to play with and to be able to go in a out whenever he wants with a fenced yard. Its been like 6 weeks and all has been well but the last 3 days he suddenly wants to lay out in the yard ALL DAY. Hes eating fine weve taken walks and he loves it but when we get home he sits out in the yard. I dont know if hes just loving the yard all of the sudden or if something could be wrong ?
