I would like a these topics/rules  added to forum Standards:

1. A list describing which actions would result in community members being banned. This is not clear to me.

2. Explain the types of bans, if they exist - posters have mentioned various lengths of time, and of course permanent

3. Require Moderators to give a reason for removing threads instead of poofing them without explanation.

I have no issue with that.

@SahmIam  Ok.  I get it.  My misunderstanding about how the old ignore feature used to work here.  I never knew if I blocked somebody that the person could no longer see me, either.

Thanks.

@Cakers3, that's not right.

If I block you, I can't see your posts.  You can still see mine - unless you blocked me also.

Back before the board shakeup, one person that I know of had me on ignore.  I could see all of her posts bragging about it — 😏

@Bri63  That's what I thought-it has to be a mutual blocking to not see each other's posts.  That's why I was questioning it.  Maybe it's different on other sites and so their experience is different.

I remember the old "ignore" feature here; I never thought if I blocked somebody that they also couldn't see me anymore.

Re: how would YOU change & improve the Q Community?

   I think having an ignore button would go a long way.The few nasty people make posting unpleasant for the rest of us.

  They have to realize that when you start a thread you don’t own it.People aren’t always going to agree with you.If someone respectfully disagrees with you that person should not be crucified & visa versa.For example if you say that someone looked beautiful some people are going to disagree & say that person looked awful.A differing opinion should not be taken personally & cause World War III .

  I always say that we must remember that we are all friends on these boards.We are adults.How can we expect our leaders to be civil if we can’t?

@Cakers3, I don't know about other sites.

Blocking is not mutual here.

In theory, blocking never really worked here because as soon as that person's post was quoted, you could see what they wrote anyway.  Maybe that's why they didn't include it as one of the options here.

@Bri63  I understand.  I was questioning 2 posters who indicated that if I block a poster, that poster can no longer see me, too.  It didn't make sense.

I didn't mention other sites; that was brought up to me as an explanation of how blocking works.

I think the whole blocking becomes useless anyway;  some posters used to brag about who they had on ignore back then.  LOL  A neener neener approach, if you will.

"I can say anything I want about YOU but I won't see what you say about ME".  LOL

Besides, I seriously doubt most of the posters using ignore back then really used it.

Usually a slip-up would happen.

@Cakers3, I know you didn't bring up other sites.  I was just commenting on it.

I always loved the "I took you off ignore just to respond to your post this one time."

Or "a good friend told me what you said but I still have you on ignore."  LOL
