Re: how would YOU change & improve the Q Community?

I have no problems with anyone or anything.I just move on from the stuff that doesn’t interest me and never give it a second thought.

Agree.  And it does seem to 'be one side in particular'.

Offshoot of other threads. I saw a poster  @@sfnative who said she would like a sit down panel discussion at Q headquarters with a representative panel of posters (at least 35) and all the Mods.

If you were on that panel what suggestions would you have for the boards?

What changes to the Standards or anything else would you suggest?

tia!

@cecesnana  I would request that I be appointed the head moderator.  LOL

Re: how would YOU change & improve the Q Community?

Even when an Ignore feature is available, on other Boards, not QVC, I find I don't use it very often.   Only people who are very extreme or offensive with their views or a potty mouth, which isn't allowed here anyway.

This ability to "tattle" or report posts I suppose is necessary but I saw one post in this thread where someone mentioned they are enjoying a pretty decent back & forth, then the drama starts or maybe one of the debaters posts a WHIFF of politics and the tattle tales swoop down to report them.

This is not middle school.   Just let it go.

When the offended party sees some politics they don't like, they start screaming, "this is a shopping board!!""    Good grief is your head in the sand??   There are politics everywhere, in our news and entertainment, why not here??    I'm not talking about strong political debates but we can't even discuss American history here without a thread getting locked.

"BUT IT'S A SHOPPING CHANNEL!!!"

I would like to see a "3 strikes you're out rule" ... if three or more people "report" you, then ban that poster for 6 months.   That would stop those who "bully" others.   I understand there are opposing views, but that's not what I'm talking about.  I think we all know the difference.

Re: how would YOU change & improve the Q Community?

Maybe we need a separate political space, so those of us that want to discuss politics don't have to do it in Community Chat. That way, if you don't want to see any of it, it can stay in its own forum and we have the choice to stay out of that particular forum.

I imagine that the moderators are as bored with the blandness of the forums now that most of the juice has been sucked out of them!

@Mona_L  Those 3 or more people can possibly be part of a group mentality against the poster being reported.

We've seen pile-ons many times based on some vague dislike based on political persuasion (from the past), or because the poster had a tiff with one of the "group" and any other myriad of lame reasons.

I think perceptions are often skewered by reasons that have nothing to do with the post.

I realize that there are posts that are beyond the pale; but overall I really don't see many of those.

What I find is inconsistency; some skate by standards with their posts while others cannot.

Nor can we defend a position in a debate without being poofed for "arguing" "baiting" "being unkind"-that's just foolish, imo.

Yes, an ability to report/ignore those posters who claim ultra sensitivity to all things social yet go after the Original Poster with great intolerance to imply stupidity and ignorance about what the OP originally posted.  All being done without overt anger or breaking posting rules.... invariably the thread becomes a bashing thread beating up the OP and the culprit for instigating it continues on her merry way.....

All sides are represented.

And if someone is heckbent on talking politics, go to Reddit.

They welcome anyone & everyone.
