Last October 12 i had a pre op visit for my physical etc at the hospital where i was going to have knee surgery on Oct 17. I knew I was to be in the hospital one night so I prepaid the copay amount($290) with my credit card. I recieved a reciept from the hospital that day. In Nov. when my cc bill came it was showed they had paid it on the 14th of Oct. So about a month ago I get a letter from a collection agency about this $290 I owed the hospital so I call the company and speak to a nice lady that says I should send in copies of the reciepts from the hospital and the credit card company and I do that. Now I'm thinking it is all taken care of. Since then I keep getting phone calls from the collection agency and they do not want to hear it is already paid they just want a cc # to charge it to. So I called the hospital billing dept. and spoke to a nice person there who was actually willing to give me her first and last name, and she said it was shown as paid in full on her computer and she would take care of it. 5 min ago - another harrassing phone call from the collection agency. Am I going to have to pay a lawyer to get this straightened out? How do I get these people off my back?
