holiday shopping for yourself

I heard a report on the Black Friday weekend shopping is NOT for gifts but for themselves. People are battling, getting up early is to get a deal for themselves. I found it interesting since the media portrays all that shopping as gift shopping. Is your shopping at this time of year for yourself?
