Hi cute, sorry about the flooding. Wish we could figure out a way to get all that water out here. Glad your flowers are thriving. I hear you about things costing more all the time. Don't think I've told you, but the painter who just never contacted us again would have charged us more than these people are, so we are blessed indeed. The Lord is taking caring of 2 old ladies, and we are grateful.

It's interesting that your hubby worked for many years for his aunt at their grain elevator. Nice family connection, and now he has been on this job for a long time. He's a hard worker. Yesterday GS and his GF came for a little visit and he also put all the mulch in the planter. It's half red half brown and looks nice. We are getting this placed all spiffed up for sure. They will be here tomorrow and Tuesday working on building the patio cover. All the supplies are here, and they have done a lot of painting. We are tired today, and this night owl has to rise with the dawn the next 2 days. Oh well, that's not too bad.

My DDIL is in terrible pain most of the time unless she lies down, but it got really bad on Friday and DS had to take her to the doc. He gave her a shot, which GS said didn't help. She has an appointment with her doc tomorrow. This is arthritis, but also sciatica and I guess it's terrible. Pray for her if you think of it, please.

DeLaney, good to see you here today. Didn't know you were planning a home warming party, but it makes sense. How nice to have your Gram here for that. We are getting rid of a bunch of junk while having this work done. And there are dead plants to toss and it's hard to know whether or not to buy new plants because of the water shortage. TIME MARCHES ON !! but she is so Happy, as she feels like a LOAD Lifted off of her Shoulders.. so All is Well..

Hi cute, happy June! It's what we call "June gloom" out here. Cloudy in the morning, but then the sun comes out. It's 9:30 here and sunny. Wow, your SIL is something else! Can't imagine planting trees by herself. Sure like the idea of the privacy screen. We need that here, but trees would be too big for the area. The 3 workers are here. One has been sanding and priming the front door, the other 2 are working on the patio cover. The uprights seem to be in place. They will be back tomorrow and then we will be finished with this part of work. So grateful we didn't go with those other people. The Lord took care of us and we are thankful.

Talked with my DDIL last night. The pain has been terrible. She couldn't get any relief lying down this time. She sees the orthopedic doc this afternoon around 1. She has been to several doctors, had all kinds of scans and tests, shots, other treatments and none of it has helped her at all. That tells me they either don't know what is wrong, or they don't know how to help. I raised the idea of disability retirement. We don't know how that works or if they could live on what she would receive, but it is certain in my mind that she could qualify. She is supposed to go out working this week, but doesn't see how she can.

Hi Snappy; good to see you here. So happy that the work is coming along nicely. Sometimes, we have to wait a little while to get just the right people to do the job. So glad that the other contractor did not call you back. I am praying that your DDIL will get some relief from her back pain, etc. I may watch another episode of Texas Rising, but so far.......................not feeling it.

Hi Cute; you have more energy than anyone that I have ever met. Guess that DH gave you back your lawn mowing job. I thought of you the other day because a person was driving next to me in a red Corvette. The weather here is kind of over cast in the morning, but it usually burns off at around 10:00 a.m. No more rain for us.

Hi Delaney; love the doggy picture. My friend had a dog just like that one. He was such a sweet dog. All he wanted you to do was pet him all day.

I did see Chris Scanlon on Evine, and I thought that she was not her old self. Something seemed to be "off". I had been "eyeing" a Joan Boyce sequin handbag for months on HSN. They finally marked it down from $109 to $29. So......I bought all 3 colors--black, burgundy and silver. The black one came today, and it is stunning. So happy.

Hi Snappy; hope that the painting is just about done. I know that your house will look so beautiful. You and your DD can take a bow. Just enjoy it. I have confidence that the planter will be equally beautiful and that you will be able to find something to plant in the back yard that will give you more privacy. I tried watching Texas Rising again last night, but I fell asleep. Speaking of movies.....I have no intention of seeing "San Andreas". Don't need to add to my anxiety.

Hi friends. Yesterday was so strange here. I could log on, read everything, but when I tried to sign in, my keyboard wouldn't show the letters on the screen. Had that happen while emailing earlier. DD fixed that, and today I can post here. All's well that ends well.

Issy, you are one fabulous shopper! It never occurs to me to watch for things to go on sale. Sure pays off for you. You know we live on the San Andreas fault, so I have no desire to see it at the movies. Last night they were interviewing Lucy who always gives us the up-dates after quakes. Can't remember her last name. Anyway, she said the moving is NOT accurate at all and told about several things it shows that couldn't happen at all. Thank you for being concerned for my DDIL. Haven't heard from her today. Night before last she was able to stay in bed for 8 hours and slept off and on during that time. They will be setting up a time to do a trial spinal chord stimulator on the outside of her body. If it helps, they could implant one in her back,, but they don't want to do that unless nothing else works. I asked her about water therapy, and could tell she hadn't thought of it.

cute, sorry that Chris Scanlon lost her job. I never saw her on EVINE. Once in a while I pop over and look at that, but have no interest in adding another place where I'll be tempted. Didn't see her. Maybe she wasn't happy there and something better will come her way. Sorry you didn't get your hangers.

The contractors finished yesterday about 3:30. Everything looks so nice. The house is painted the same color, which keeps it from looking "new", but the trim is different and the whole thing is structurally sound. All the stucco that was coming out has been replaced, and the cracks sealed and invisible now. The front door is a reddish brown. They sanded our glider and the bench we have on the front porch and painted all the wood the same red color and the metal framework is now black. The patio cover is so nice we can hardly believe it. It's a bit hard though. Hubby had made the old gates and the patio cover, and now it's all gone. It was falling apart, so it needed to be thrown away, but it's like losing a bit more of him. I'm enjoying all the newness, and like knowing that DD has a safer, more modern house now. It will make it more saleable one day.

It was so nice to be able to sleep in this morning, and I did. BTW, DD#2 is getting a raise! It's been 6 years with none, and many of those years there were furlough days with no pay, so this will help her in 2 main ways. More in each month's paycheck, and more when she retires because they base the pension on your highest earning year. There are other perks as well, but that's the main thing.

Hey Snappy......so relieved to see you here. I was just going to post to Cute that I was worried about you because you didn't check in yesterday. But everything is right with the world now. I am so excited for you and your DD#2. I know that the house looks beautiful. That is a wonderful achievement. I must say again that you were gently guided to the right contractor to do the work. Isn't that great! Congratulations to DD#2 for the raise. Every little bit helps. Glad that she is sticking it out. She deserves a raise and more.

Hope that your DDIL can get some relief. I know that water therapy does help in some cases. Keeping my fingers crossed for her. There is always something. Do you plan on doing any more work around the house? Thanks for the compliment on my bargain shopping. MsLomo is the one that got me started checking for sales on the shopping channel. I used to never do that. I don't pay full price for anything, except skin care.
