Well, today is a work day for me AND my DH returns from Spain this week......pretty exciting. SNAPPY.....we live in NJ about 20 miles outside of NYC and less than 5 miles from the NY state line. Rochester is , I am guessing, about 400 miles from here. Never did the closet cleaning yesterday.......I want to get going so that I miss the start of rush hour traffic. Leave early and get home early is my motto. Everyone have a great day.

cute. I am picturing your heart shaped sunglasses with the pearls! {#emotions_dlg.lol} Yep, that's you alright. Oh boy, a cook out for Labor Day. Hope you have a great time "playing" in the yard and using the zip line. If I had access to that, I just might try it. I'd love to be at that party with you. It's just a bit far to travel...sigh. I think you make so many people happy just by being out around them and sharing your personality.

My back is getting better all the time. Still using the heat pad as I sit here typing and it feels good. Slept well. DD and I are planning on going to a movie tomorrow afternoon. We haven't done anything fun this summer. She has to return to work on Wednesday...the summer flew by. Praying she is less stressed this year. DD#1 knows people who live in Napa where the quake hit. They are okay, but had lots of things fall, etc. I heard one lady say that it threw her right out of bed! Made me think of Dorothy in Wizard of Oz.

Danky, was your hubby in Spain for work? Am sure he will have lots of interesting things to tell you, and I hope some really special "thing"...you know, like a gift???{#emotions_dlg.sneaky} You must have missed him a lot. My hubby was born in Rochester, but lived in Binghamton. He left there while in high school and joined the Air Force during WW2. Wound up out here in the late 40s and so we met in 1951. Boy, am I ever old...{#emotions_dlg.unsure} Sorry you didn't get the closet cleaned out, but it will happen someday.

Hi to Issy, MsLomo, bath and all.

HI SNAPPY AND ALL......got home a little while ago and need a shower and food.....my DH is a multiple award winning Executive Chef ( named by Gourmet magazine as one of the ten best in the country some years ago ). He is now sort of retired , as am I , but takes consulting jobs on occasion. This one was to get the menu/chef/kitchen in order for the opening of a new restaurant which happens to be in Madrid....he probably will not bring me anything because he knows I hate "stuff".....I am certain the Grands will make out though. I have missed him but I am used to him working long hours.....he should be home now for the rest of the year. Hope you all have a wonderful evening.

Hi SNAPPY and CUTEt.......the heat has arrived today and is supposed to last through tomorrow and maybe Thursday....I am so spoiled ..I want the spring like weather back. SNAPPY..good to hear that your back is behaving..no more vacuuming...just follow my lead. How many years ago did your husband die? And, if not too personal, what did he die from ? Your DDs sound like lovely women....no sons ? CUTEt.....in all modesty I have to say I am an excellent cook ( not chef though ). DH taught me well...when he is home, which is most of the time, we both cook. It is very informal...kind of like whomever thinks of it first or is in the mood and then the other one pitches in.....same with dishes, chores, etc. The only things I do exclusively are laundry, grocery shopping and finances. Ugh...I don't envy you the roof project. Expensive and messy but at least it will be done for the next 30+ years.....SNAPPY.....have you heard anything about your windows ? I horseback ride every day..usually early in the morning. This morning I didn't so I want to get to the stable for a little while. Have a great evening.

Hi friends. Yesterday the Q was down for some reason. Couldn't access it at all. DD and I went to see the moving "Hundred Feet". It was fun, nothing off color or anything, and visually beautiful. When we got home, I tried to log on here, but couldn't.

Danky, Wow you are blessed with a great chef, and it sounds like you are a great cook also. The movie we saw was about restaurants and becoming a "chef", at least in part. Sounds like his job is quite interesting and I'm sure he was a tremendous help to the people starting a new place in Madrid. I hear you about not wanting any more "stuff".

I did vacuum the family room earlier today, but my back is okay. Am sitting on the heat pad while typing. Need to iron a few things. I've only been on a horse once. When I was a teenager, we went to the mountains and took a tour with a guide. Don't remember much about it other than that. Yes, I do have a son. He was 60 in May. He and his wife have been married almost 40 years and have my 3 grands. They are aged 35, 30 and 19. The 35 year old has been married for 7 years. No kids. The other two are both single, although my GD has a very serious BF. My girls are 58 and almost 55. Both teachers. Well, the older one retired a year ago and got married for the first time in April. The other DD is the one I live with. She teaches 1st grade. Went back to work today. Kids return day after Labor Day. My husband died of metastatic tongue cancer and Parkinson's disease on October 17th, 2010. He had been ill for several years. Had gone through grueling radiation therapy, and in the end died here at home under hospice. It was a relief and I was grateful he was no longer suffering. Of course I miss the way things used to be, but wouldn't want him back to suffer again. I know he is with the Lord and I will be there too one day. I have hope.

cute, thanks for the concern for my back. It is MUCH better. So happy you have been able to get the new roof. Am sure it was a mess, but so worth it. Remember the heavy snow on it a couple of years ago? Wow, I do, so I'm sure you must. Is it shingles? We have red tiles on our house. Love them. Quite common here in SoCal. Yesterday Lowes called to say they can install the windows and doors on Friday! Between 9-10. Yeah. DD has to be at work, but DD#1 wants to come out and be here with me. That's nice and I might need someone to move stuff around. I called a cleaner to arrange for them to take down the curtains and drapery in the LR. That has to come down before they can install the large slider there. And they need to be cleaned. Win-win. The other window treatments can stay. The blinds in DDs room and her den have to be tossed and she will get new ones. The new windows are thicker than the old ones. Am so thrilled with the idea of having new screens that aren't torn.

Hi Issy, bath, MsLomo and all who read here.
