for those with chronic illnesses

hihi --

i know there are a lot of us here who are dealing with chronic illness(es). although i've had a number of diagnoses for many years, they haven't bothered me much until now. now i almost feel like they're ganging up on me, and that they're actively in search of new recruits!

for the first time in my life, i feel like a sick person. i am frustrated, sad, discouraged, scared and numerous other things that go along with feeling like i'm approaching invalid status. (did you ever stop to think about that word? how it means both sick person and something that is without foundation?)

my questions to you are: how do you deal with this on a day-to-day basis? do you ever just wish you could have a couple of days off? when did you "tip" from have a couple of diagnoses to being a chronically ill person - what made the difference for you? is there anyone here who used to be in this category and now is not?

please don't tell me to pray or do volunteer work or "get a life". i have nothing against the 1st two; if they work for you, i think that's great!

thanks in advance for your replies.
