I have an extreme fear of heights. it causes an actual physical reaction with my heart pounding, my stomach feeling tight, I break out in a cold sweat and have the sensation of near panic. it is a feeling that I can't ( or don't know how to ) control. fortunately, in my everyday life I don't encounter the issue very often except when I'm driving and have to go onto a high overpass, then I have to consciously make myself focus on the center line of the road so I don't see over the edge. we just returned from a trip to the beautiful Smoky Mountains and some of the roads almost gave me a heart attack ! has anyone here successfully overcome something like my fear of heights? how did you do it? I've never taken a sedative, but I told my husband that if we ever have the opportunity to travel in the mountains again I might have to ask my doctor for a prescription before we go {#emotions_dlg.unsure}.
