If you're having pain in your eye, don't wait until January.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

Sylvia - go to the er or doc tomorrow. Do not wait. It could be a pressure problem.....a nerve problem....carcinoma....this is nothing to wait on.

I wouldn't wait until January. You could have a detached retina.....and that is painful. It needs to be checked out as soon as p

Sylvia.....please don't wait until January......this could be very serious.......sometimes a detached retina can be very painful.....and if that is what it is, you need it taken care of ASAP.

Please keep us posted on this.

It could be many things, from sinusitis to glaucoma. (Pressure rising in the eye can cause pain.)

Best to treat it as an emergency--even if it's not, you will have gotten your examination out of the way and won't have to go in Jan.

sylvia.....when I had a detached retina in my rt eye and a torn retina in my left, I felt no pain. Obviously one should immediately see an eye doctor as soon as possible but my eye pain came later. I'll explain. If by chance one does have a detached retina and they wait too long to have it repaired then it has to be fixed by major surgery and the recovery period is long and yes painful....I didn't take narcotic meds so I felt it. But, if you catch the detachment in time, then it can painlessly be repaired by laser which was the case for my left eye for the torn retina. How I came to have these I have no idea...hereditary I'm sure for it was not from an injury.

Now, I do periodically get eye pain. I have somewhat dry eyes and when I wake up in the morning sometimes feel it at that time. The doctor told me to use Systane and have to say it is better than Refresh Plus which I was using too because I got a better price at Sam's Club but I recently began using Systane again.

Also, I used to wear contacs and scratched my cornea more than once and that too hurt plus watered like mad. While I don't wear contacs now, when I remove my mascara I have to make sure not to rub my eye....I only touch the eyelashes when removing the makeup or I get that familiar pain again the next day just like when my contac scratched my cornea.

Hope that helps. Please call your eye doctor every morning to see if they have a cancellation to get you in earlier than January.
