i ordered two items from ebay sellers and they are showing as having been delivered yesterday, but they were not delivered. we actually had NO mail yesterday at all.....which is very unusual.
it has also not arrived today.
i have contacted the seller and the seller says i can file a claim with usps. is that my responsibility or their responsibility?
i am still hoping though that it shows up!

I think if it shows delivered it is your responsibility.

@sunshine45 ....the package could have been delivered to the wrong address.
I came home from work to find a large box on my porch....the label clearly reads the address, but it was delivered to me instead of the proper address.
I was hoping UPS would discover their error and swing back around and pick it up, sigh...they have not. Now I need to get it to the right address.

"they are showing as having been delivered yesterday"
Showing up where? USPS website?
You will need to file a claim w/the postal service. If you have their tracking # you can also go to your local PO & advise them of the descripancy. You need the # to file a claim.
The seller did their job. The P.O. lost your package or it was stolen if that is the case. I would keep the seller up to date on the progress.

Never had this occur before, so I wouldn't know how this is handled by individual sellers.
It's possible they were delivered to the wrong address. Also, did you walk around your house to see if they were put at another door or in front of garage doors?
Were you home all day? They could have been stolen.
If you have a tracking number, I would contact USPS. There may be insurance on the packages. You could also contact ebay and submit a claim. They may give you a refund.

@sunshine45 Were the packages insured? If so, I believe, as the insurer, the sender has to file the claim. He or she would have the receipt.

I'm dealing with USPS as we speak about 2 QVC packages that showed being delivered today, but only one was delivered.
1 package was a jacket in Q's plastic clothing bags, which was stuffed in my mailbox, but the other package was a piece of jewelry, probably in the brown padded envelopes that Q uses and it was not there.
Apparently it's impossible to call your local P.O. these days, I had to file an inquiry online at USPS.com.

The seller is off the hook, and eBay should not be refunding for packages that show as delivered. This just encourages buyer fraud. USPS may or may not accept a claim for a package that tracing shows was delivered, for the same reason.
A few years back, I was expecting two packages so I was keeping close tabs on the tracking through the day of delivery. When the tracking showed "delivered," I went to the front porch--nothing. Before getting crazy, I walked over to the house next door and retrieved both boxes from their front steps.
I would check with neighbors and then try to talk to the driver. It's also remotely possible that the driver prescanned the packages but failed to deliver them, and they'll be delivered tomorrow. Drivers are supposed to scan at delivery, but sometimes they scan a batch of things at the same time, which can create problems like this.

USPS DOES, in fact accept a claim on a package that showed delivery, yet it wasn't delivered, I just filed one (details in my above post).

That happened to me. Here's what I did...first I contacted the seller and the seller told me to "Return this item" even though I never actually received it. Under the Return this item there is a place to enter a reason for return. You need to choose one unrelated reason in the list then put an explanation of not received. The seller will get the request and refund you. If not then ebay will step in and refund your money. A black mark goes down against the seller when that happens. It would be in the best interest of the seller to do the refund in order to avoid a bad transaction.
eta - eBay has a money back guarantee. Use that and don't go thru filing with postal service.
