On occasion I have emailed a seller and asked if their shipping cost was correct for my zip code.   More often than not it was an error.

You can always contact the seller first before reporting them.

And, don't forget,  people can list an item at any price they want .... it doesn't mean it will sell.

Excellent points, and especially regarding contacting the seller prior to reporting ....

@Q4u @Tinkrbl44  I did send a message to seller but

there has been no response.

I noticed they have everything listed at a low price but

crazy shipping charges ! They have a buy now on a

Coach bag for 4.99 with shipping $169.99 ! Another item

starting bid .99 with shipping $209.99 ! Another Coach

starting bid 4.99 with shipping $ 189.99 !

I'm not interested in them but wondered what's up

with That !  Woman Very Happy

@MorningLover

I'm really surprised Ebay allows it ..... what if an item needs to be returned for damage?    Do they just refund the $4.99?  That's certainly not right!

@Tinkrbl44 @Q4u  I received a reply from this ebay seller

after asking if the shipping was correct . This seller said

yes it is and they just switched the price and shipping !

Apparently the items hadn't sold and when they relisted

this is what the seller did.  So it wasn't a mistake.

It also says seller doesn't take returns.Doesn't look like

anyone is buying it !

Re: eBay question for buying...

I thought they had a higher shipping price and lower item price to get around the ebay fees on the cost of the item?

I always thought it was a way to basically scam the ebay system.

Interesting because the seller would have to be absolutely asleep for this to happen. Relists are already filled out from the prior listing.  To change anything on the listing page in order to relist it requires a conscious deliberate act... lol and even then sometmes the new entry will default back to what was there before.

So, with this information, and an email to back it up as proof.... please report this seller for the scam they are trying to perpetrate on their customers!!  You can also call an eBay representative and tell them along with the fact that you asked the seller and they responded with an email that  yes, that's what they're doing.  The eBay rep can "see" the emails sent through the eBay email system.

*Sigh*..... I get really fed up with those gaming the system.

BTW, to ANYONE who accidently buys something from someone that has outrageous shipping that you didn't notice.... do NOT go through with the sale.

Instead, call eBay to report the sale.  They will look into the sale and will probably take the listing down.  When it comes down, you have no obligation to pay!

It IS a scam.... to not only eBay (they won't get the fees for the higher priced item) but it scams the buyer as well (they won't get a refund on the shipping, only the lower price of the item!!)....
