Would drive thru tests really be safe?

Some of the outdated CDC regulations that I think they want to get rid of are health workers being able to give tests with less precautions like not having masks and gloves? I have seen this mentioned on both a state and federal level when they give conferences?

So what precautions would the test givers use?

I still think you should have to have a doctor recommend it.

I have read articles where nurses unions want their workers to have better protection in hospitals

We have 100 tests availible according to the tv at 3 drive thru locations.   and one case in the county

Last week our hospital did a drive thru test in a location not by the hospital.  It was done by their nurses so I'm thinking they followed all the correct procedures.

it is a small town so with one case it might be 100 tests for the county   the one location is close to me and I even wonder if people would wait overnight  since this was on the 11pm news also.  quest diagnotics is supposed to being doing them by asking questions

We have 3 or 4 drive thru locations for testing in Albuquerque which have been on TV.  The workers are dressed up like space cadets, completely covered with masks, gloves head covering and clothing and shoes covered.  What's not safe?

how often should the masks, head coverings, gloves be changed between patients and is it too easy to be careless and touch their face when they do it  and not even realize it

@lovescatsNothing comes without some kind of risk, but if I knew I had a choice between sitting in my own car and sitting in an office, walking through the maze of rooms in my doctors' offices -   I'll take my car every time.

I'm still concerned that there are so few tests available, so that we might have a better sense of what precautions we need.  I think one of the worst outcomes for any major crisis can happen when we wait too long to begin interventions.  Isn't that what let China and Italy become so seriously affected?

So what happen's if you are positive,  do they give you special care or is this  just being done to assess a situation.

Since there is no treatment except in the case of extreme respiratory distress, I suppose the quarantine the person and tell him to take appropriate OTC meds to alleviate symptoms.
